Very Nice Car Of That Time — I rebuild this car in 2002. So i can say that this car is handmade. Acceleration is like adrenaline candy. Cost of ownership is very cheap. Because a lot of spare parts are made in lada factory in Russia. Best car for Saturday and Sunday.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Drifter's car

Cons: not maximum top speed

Well, I Think "love" Might Be A Bit Too Strong Of A Word, But I Am Definitely A Big Fan Of The Car. — I wish it had a little less rust. But, considering it's 36 years old, it's an amazing little car! I'm hoping to put a lot of work into it soon. After a lot of research on the car, I bought my first 1974 Fiat 124 Spider back in 1995, all beat up for $800. And spent years fixing it up. I never had that "Fix It Again Tony" problem that the brand was (wrongly)known for. It always ran solid even when I had just bought it, and it had been neglected for years by its previous owner. I lost that first Fiat in a major accident back in 2004. So I went looking for the same exact car once again, found it online from a seller in Nevada and had it shipped to me. It is no "hobby car". It is my daily driver.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: considering its age, it's got a lot of zip and great on gas. plus you can't beat classic Italian styling!

Cons: all the cons are due to its age: small rubber parts go bad and rust pops uo from time to time

Sports Car — This was a great car until I blow the head gaskety and could not afford to fix it. I still hold a Hillclimb Record in this car.

Pros: 1800 Twin Cam

Cons: Worn 2nd Gear

La Bella Macchina — I have owned 6 FIAT 124's and have loved every one of them- they are mechanically solid, almost like an old American car, but more fun than the old US iron- hey, it's Italian! My 124 Sport Coupe has a DOHC Engine designed by Lampredi and a sleek body styled by Boano. A poor man's Ferrari! Other than the superior handling and style, other pluses are: the Fiat parts cost way less than a similar Alfa, Maserati, Ferrari, etc-. the 124 is simple to take apart and put together- all 124s share common parts, the Spiders, Coupes, Sedans and Wagons have the same suspensions and drive trains across the years of production and models- what a concept! one brake rotor for millions of different looking cars- the rotor still costs $15 new.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: The 124 Coupe- ultra rare and ultra Italian- sweet steering feel, tracking, handling, and the twin cam Lampredi engine can be hopped up with cams and twin Webers- longer wheelbase than the Spider means a better ride- La Bella Macchina!

Cons: Rust is the big issue, but this car only has a little around the right rear wheelwell- amazingly rustfree and solid otherwise-  It's an antique, but as long as attention is paid to the cambelt, the few mechanical problems can be addressed easily and cheaply
