So Pretty Compared To Today's Cars, It Had Usable Performance And Was Tough As They Come. — I bought it for a rip-off price of $1250 from a lot in Kent area South of Seattle. The door kept swinging open on the 3 hour drive home. Over a few years I kept adding pieces from wreckers and Volvo specialists joints. In the end I had a rebuilt engine, Bilstein shocks, custom sway bars, chrome rims with fat tyres, CD player... she was gorgeous. Also converted it to alternator which eliminated the major unreliability problem. Still want another one.

Pros: It could keep up with modern cars on the freeway, girls loved the cool curves, simple and raw, very individual.

Cons: No 4 disc brakes like the 144, was unreliable before alternator conversion, needed fuel additive, heavy.

The stock car is fine - but a modified one is much better. Braking can be dramatically improved as can overall engine performance. This is a 40 year old car - no new sat nav stuff here. Don't expec... Read More
