Vw Beetle — Vw type 1's 1967 and down are one of the most collected, recognizable and customizable cars ever made. They have THE most aftermarket accesories and are still somewhat easily found for very reasonable prices compared to all over cars. Easy to work on and VERY customizable. Fun little cars for anything from a cruiser, to a commuter, to a drag racer.

Pros: Customizability, Price

Cons: Getting harder to find in good shape

One Of The Best.. I Love The 67 — Restored this one (actually it was not too bad in the first place) but this was a 67 one year only 1500cc bug.. i didnt own it too long unfortunately but i still wish i had it now..

Pros: cheap to restore. cheap to buy but still finds so much love in peoples eyes.

Cons: slow.. rusty.. crap heating, crap most things.. BUT I DONT CARE

A Timeless Classic — My first car. Ah, to be young and stupid. ;-) Actually, I really liked this car. I just had some serious oil pump issues.... and was missing part of the floor on the passenger's side. The fact that it was older than me might have had something to do with its condition though. ;-)

Pros: ~It's a beetle

Cons: ~It's a very OLD car. If you're considering getting one, make sure it has a new engine.

This Is A Real Volkswagen, Rear Engine Air-cooled Flat 4 Power! — This was the height of quality for VW in the 60's. The 1967 model Typ 1 Beetle came with the largest engine till that point a 1493 cc, 53 hp horizontally opposed air-cooled engine mounted in the rear. It was the first year for 12 volt electrical system, upright headlights with no outer cover. It was also the only year for the rear deck lid, bumper and back up lights. The wheels, hubcaps, and emergency flashers systems were carry overs from the previous 1966 model year.

Pros: Easy of repairablity, parts are plentiful and cheap. Great on Gas 28+ mpg. Fun to drive.

Cons: This VW is not comparable to modern cars, therefore I will not delve into the cons a
modern car driver might think this VW may have. Mine has great heat so I want to hear no
complaints.

Once You Have The Bug... — Very cool 1st car... lots of work to restore one, but worth it. Quick in a straight line (if you build a motor)- don't push it into corners too hard...

Pros: quick, classic, fun, crowd pleaser

Cons: not the best handling, watch out those gas line leaks...

My 67 We Dubbed Rose. She Was Porsche Signal Red. — The '67 for the fans of VW's is the Messiah of VW's, in my opinion. A perfect blend of the the pre-67 body styling and the 67 and newer abilities and engine, it is possibly the best of them all. In the VW family, you can find no other car with more one-year-only options and features. Built as a classic-styled car, it has both class and shine. Built as a hot-rod, it has endless potential. Drop a 356 motor in it and you end up with a machine that will outdo most of what is on the road today.

Pros: Nostalgia.  Ease of upkeep.  Compact.  MPG.

Cons: Tempermental.  Horrid defrosters.

So Much Fun To Drive — Looked just like this little model! Had a great time in it - but it seemed to always break down. No A/C in Houston was pretty tough too.

Pros: FUN

Cons: You'll get to know your tow truck driver!

Nothing Runs Like A Beetle! — This was my first car. While the performance wasn't so hot, this little car was, quite simply, amazing. This was one of the greatest cars I have ever owned. Started every time, never got hot, and took the abuse given to it teaching my little sister how to drive a stick shift!

Pros: Reliable, Simple Technology, Easy To Work On, Will Float On Water

Cons: Severely Under-Powered, Notoriously bad heaters
