Love At 1st Sight — All pros, no cons ... pretty much says it all right there. It was a pretty car for a young girl, but at the same time sporty because my older brother had 'jacked it up' in the back for me so that it was cool looking.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

says:
Bought used in 1967. Red convertible, 4 spd, black buckets, 326 2 barrel. It was a real looker and pretty quick though not in the muscle car class. It rode well, was real fun to drive. Every thing seemed to be positioned in the right place. My father would borrow it and leave me the keys to his new 1967 Buick Electra convertible. Alas I was T-Boned by an big rig truck in 1968 and never saw it again. I really miss it. 10-11mpg

Power Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO better.
"Cubic inches, 455 vs 326, big 4bbl carb vs 2bbl, ram air III exhaust manifolds, dual 2 1/2 exhausts, 10.25 compression ratio."
Handling Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO better.
"Big front and rear stabilizers bars, with nylon front stabilizer bushings on the GTO. The heavy duty GTO shocks were the standard duty Olds 442 shocks (same part number) so it was an easy upgrade to install the heavy duty olds shocks. By 1970 Pontiac was also trying to civilize the GTO. It also had bigger and better tires."
Looks/Style Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO worse.
"The looks that the Le Mans got with the top down."
Front Seats Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO worse.
"The whole driving position seemed better. You sat up higher in the 64 and looked out at the road rather than over the dash. Never could seem to find a comfortable position in the 70, the throw to 3rd is too long and moving the seat forward crunches you to much toward the pedals."
Back Seats Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO worse.
"My parents didnt complain about sitting in the back seat of the Le Mans. Entry and exit was difficult in the GTO. You fell into them and crawled out of them."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO worse.
"When I moved into an apartment for college, my dresser and desk easily slid into the trunk of the Le Mans The same furniture was a fight to get into the trunk of the GTO when I moved to a house."
Family Car Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO worse.
"Ease of exit and entry to the rear seat. My parents (the Buick Electra people) liked the back seat of the Le Mans but hated riding in the GTO. The trunk also seemed to have more useable room and was easier to load and unload."
Value Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO better.
"THE 70 GTO rides and handles better at speed and gets better gas mileage. Give me my 64 Le Mans back and maybe my memories of 50 years ago can be jogged."
Would Buy Ranked 1970 Pontiac GTO worse.
"I would buy the Le Mans with the GTO option."
