As posted on CNN earlier today, Ford is recalling more than 100,000 cars! These are mostly new, 2005 and 2006 year models, and the recall is primarily due to drivetrain and door latch issues. Apparently the door latches don’t work well when wet?
The main models affected are the Ford Five Hundred, Ford Freestar, and Mercury Montego. What’s going on at Ford?
In case you didn’t know, the 2006 Paris Auto Show is going on right now. A few new cars and redesigns have taken the spotlight so far.
The Mini Cooper is being redesigned, and among the cool-sounding changes is a bigger speedometer that includes (inside of it!) the entertainment system console.
Audi hasn’t been sleeping either, and they showed off a new and very sporty car, the R8. According to CNN, it’s an all-wheel-drive car modeled after the LeMans-series one put out by Audi, and whose engine is rated at 420 horsepower.
It’ll be interesting to see what else comes up at this year’s shows. So far there hasn’t been a big hybrid- or electric-related announcement, but we fully expect to hear one…
