2012 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback Review

“Fantastic Little Car”

Purchased this car in July of 2012 to replace my Jeep Cherokee. Was purchased for $17,500. Mine is an SE hatchback model with cruise control, Sync, Premium Stereo, LED parking lamps, and 15 inch wheels. This car get's amazing gas mileage, I'm averaging 37mpg with mixed city and highway driving. I can get well over 40 on the highway on longer trips....

When I arrived for my appt to test drive a new car, I was escorted into a little office and asked inane questions, such as "Why are WE looking for a new car right now?" and "How are WE going to pay for this car?" After the test drive, back in the office, I learned that the price online was deceptive and did not include nitrogen tires and a tint package, even though I was assured before coming to test drive that the online price included everything. They also asked for my driver's license, disappeared and left me for over 10 minutes waiting in this office; because they had my driver's license, I could not leave and was trapped there. I will never do business with this dealership.

The salesperson, Doug, never introduced himself to me, never shook my hand, and scurried about as if my presence at the dealership was a huge burden on him. After a 5 hour drive to the dealership, I was pretty much committed to purchasing the vehicle unless it turned out to be a complete dog. When Doug finally had time to show us the vehicle, it looked very nice, but the first thing I noticed was the tires were almost completely worn. I had scheduled a nearby mechanic to check out the vehicle, but Doug was very insistent that I do all the paperwork and finalize the purchase before taking it to the mechanic. He actually tried to make me feel stupid for wanting to take it to a mechanic before finalizing the purchase. The mechanic found a couple minor things (out of alignment), but was also hesitant about the condition of the tires. Doug asked how the mechanic's checkup went, but he was practically running past me as he asked and never gave me a chance to even talk to him. He would continually ask a question, then never give me a chance to discuss anything about the condition or price of the vehicle with him. I decided to accept the car as it was and we finalized the sale. As I got in the car to drive away, I noticed a back tire had gone completely flat. Doug sent me to a nearby tire store, where I had to spend another 2 hours, and I ended up putting a new set of 4 tires on the vehicle at my own expense, even though the tire salesman advised that the dealership never sells vehicles with tires that bad. Overall, I was treated horribly by Bankston Ford and would never consider returning to this dealership.

Internet manager disclosed that the car had navigation and back up camera, which it did not. Car was not clean or ready for test drive when I arrived for scheduled appointment. Lastly, they undervalued my trade-in by 1500 $. The carfax was less than stellar, with multiple owners and a car auction in the history. When I didn't take their deal, they did the classic, "let me see..." and came back with improved value for my trade-in. They had "gotten a call" that verified the value! I don't respond to unscrupulous sales tactics, and I don't believe there's a magical wizard in the office who burps out erroneous values or assigns cars with features they don't have. I left the subpar car and the subpar dealers in Greenville.
