Took Car In To Have Timing Belt/ Water Pump Done And It Snapped 50 Miles After Leaving The Shop.... —
The proprietor of C+C Auto Repair is a horrible mechanic, plain and simple. I took my 1995 Isuzu Trooper (3.2 V6) with 110,000 miles on it to him to have the timing belt and water pump changed as preventative maintenance. This year and model Trooper has a history of doing 200,000 + miles (it receives 4.75/5 stars in 32 reviews at Edmunds.com). I picked the vehicle up the following day and not 50 miles later, the same day, heading towards NY, the timing belt snapped. I had the vehicle towed at my expense 50 miles back to his shop. He transparently claimed that this was in no way his error. The vehicle had run reliably without issue for the past 30,000 miles. 50 miles after it leaves his shop my only means of transportation is destroyed. I proceeded to file a small claims lawsuit against C+C Auto Repair of Wallingford, CT for the value of my vehicle, the cost of the repair and the cost of the tow. In court he was represented by a lawyer from his insurance company and unfortunately I did not have the funds to procure a lawyer. When questioned about the vehicle he claimed the reason the vehicle’s timing belt snapped was because the lifters were noisy. They were intermittently doing so. However, anyone who knows about the Isuzu Trooper’s 3.2 V6 knows that valve tap is a common occurrence which is easily quelled with higher viscosity motor oil. Despite the occasionally noisy lifters I had no problems whatsoever with the vehicle’s water pump leaking or timing belt slipping. Factually speaking the vehicle was in fine running shape when taken to C+C Auto Repair LLC for preventative maintenance and 50 miles after he replaced the timing belt it snapped. I lost the case because I did not have a lawyer and he slips through the cracks once again hanging another customer out to dry. If you going to take your vehicle to C+C Auto Repair LLC you should be sure you have the funds to purchase a new car the following day.
