1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette 4 Dr GLS Passenger Van Extended Review
by Mike

Minivan hardly says it right

This van has pulled our trailers, hauled our kids, taken us camping, seen a good bit of the US, and has been pretty reliable all along the way. Since it's no longer in production we had to buy a different make/model, otherwise we would have been quite happy buying another one just like this one.

Avg. Dealer Rating: (10 reviews) "Classic old school car dealer tactics at work at a "Dealin Doug" dealership, but what do you expect with a name like "Dealin' Doug?"... they bring out the the ole four- square form and work the numbers, then it goes to the finance manager for "review." They play the waiting game with you and I actually watched the salesman walk out to the back lot acting as if he had something to do while making me wait...Hah... Playing dumb couldn't be more sweet. Walked out and waved to the salesman and then got his attention...started to panic when I threatened to walk out. Lots of wheeling and dealing trying to get me to buy this that and the other thing... and then, of course, refused to pay their $600 dealer fee (prominently displayed on their walls to give you the impression it's a done deal)... I'll never ever pay such a fee, especially for a used vehicle. I could care less if they are the largest volume sales jeep dealer in the country, I wasn't buying a jeep. Took my trade when I dropped it on them at the last minute. Shop at the end of the month and preferably at night close to closing...nothing makes me happier than to see panic in the eyes of car salesman needing to make a sale to meet his numbers/quota . While I took command of the sales process, the customer service and follow-up was non-existent after I drove my new-to-me (aka "pre-owned). Not a single follow-up call or email.. Knowledgeable/wise/experienced buyers of cars will have fun wheeling and dealing, but those who disdain car salesmen or are easily intimidated might want to avoid this dealership."
