The truck ran well and was pretty clean although the gas gauge seemed to not work so we asked the salesman if the gas gage was broken and he stated no. We decided to purchase the car and when we were completing the paper work with the finance manager he received a call and told us that the odometer cluster may have been replaced and that he needs to go find out. He left the room and I was not happy because that can be a major issue if you know what I mean. He came back and said sorry it hasn't been replaced and wasn't an issue. So after we purchased and left the lot we had to stop and get gas. I filled it up and it only took $30.00? As we left the gas station I realized the gas gage was broke and the oil pressure gage stopped working, then the speedometer starting fluctuating. The next day I addressed these issues with the car salesman he told me to bring it back in to have it looked at, so we did. After looking over the car they told me it's not an easy fix and that it would cost $450.00 for a used cluster that would read 110,000 miles instead of the actual mileage on the vehicle and that it can't be recalibrated. The service manager said a new one would cost 600.00 to 800.00. They told me they would pay up to $350.00 towards a used one and I would have to pay the rest out of my pocket! What really bothers me about this is they new it had a bad cluster when they sold it to me and lied directly to my face when I asked them about it and when I asked them to pay for the costs they pretty much refused. I will never purchase another vehicle here....New or Used "

Apparently he doesn't really need the business. I was a man looking to buy, and for every offer I made him he just said "no", instead of coming up with something and making me a counter offer. What happened to good old horse trading?!? This happened with other dealers too. I chalk it up to being just plain lazy. They want you to pay their inflated prices without a fight, and if you know better (like I do), then they just tell you no, and wait until that sucker does come along. (P.T. Barnum was right!) Hey, I'm not gonna begrudge 'em a profit on what they do, but I'm not gonna put his kids AND grandkids through college either. If you don't like my offers, well, I'm gonna take 'em down the road. There are literally HUNDREDS (if not thousands) of dealers in a 300 mile radius of Chicago. Bottom line is, I didn't create this car dealer system, I just do my homework on any vehicle I look at, look it over for a long time when I get there, try to take it for a l-o-n-g test drive, then see if they'll let me bring it to my mechanic. (If they don't, then I'm suspicious.) It's a crap shoot out there. Know what you want first, then go after it. I'm lucky I'm not under a time pressure bubble, so I can take my time looking around, and that is probably the most important aspect of buying. If the salesperson tells you he still has the car, but someone else is looking at it, I tell 'em, "if they plunk cash down in front of you before I get there, then sell the damn thing." I would. They're trying to create urgency. Hell, it just gives me more time to save up for a nicer truck than the beater POS I saw at Highland Park Truck & Auto Center. Nice enough old man that John was, though."

He said they didn't do those there, but to his knowledge the car had never been in an accident. I paid for and ran the carfax report myself and the car HAD been in an accident. Then after I had already contacted the dealer myself, someone from there kept trying to call me. I don't think they realized I had already called. I ended up buying a car from a different dealer."
