Avg. Dealer Rating: (2 reviews) "The car I wanted had Low Mileage, sweet condition, and perfect color. The salesman did not have to do a whole lot of selling because I had my set. So I went ahead and moved forward on a loan and purchased the car that weekend. When I first checked out the car, the fog lights did not work and I noticed they still did not work when I got home. It was not a big deal but that should have clued me in about this dealer as we talked about it in our previous meeting. I owned the truck for about a month and it had COMPLETE engine failure. The cylinder heads were made of aluminum and as the engine neared 60k, the filings start making their way into the valves making my #4 and #6 seize. Long story short, the engine was toast. This is not the dealers fault as I did some deeper research and found that this does happen to 2004 land rovers occasionally. I am fine with that. What I am not okay with is how the dealer handled me as a customer and is still trying to rebuild that SAME engine to resell the vehicle. It's wrong. I bought the vehicle as is and under CA law, the dealer is no longer responsible. After about 2-5 calls and back and forth and him pretending not to get messages or whatever he agreed to pay about 1/3 of the value back. But that was after: 1. letting the car sit in my repair shop for a month (I was VERY fortunate that he did not charge me rent). My repair guy called him NUMEROUS times but he would tell me that he was 'trying his best to reach' my mechanic. I called my mechanic twice a day that month...he's easily reached. Then the dealer would contradict himself say, "when I talked to the mechanic today...". He did this every day for about 2 weeks. 2. Lying to me saying that he had to talk to his business partner. I've been to the office. Apparently, he takes a good 2 weeks to have a talk with his business partner one wall behind him. I definitely feel like he trying to wait me out so I would pay for the tow, or give up on trying to get money for the car. 3. The vehicle was 11k. He gave me 3,500. I am grateful for that as he did not have to pay me anything but what kind of business is he running? When I do not give full service to my customers, I have to give them their FULL money back. My mechanic is convinced that whoever smogged that vehicle fudged the numbers because there is no way it should have passed. I've recently contacted the bureau of auto repair and they are investigating the shop who does the smog. 4. He got contentious when I did not want to buy another vehicle from his lot to make it an even trade. Really? I wanted something with 4WD and he did not have anything lower than 100k miles. 5. he lied and told me that his tow truck driver could not drive from oakland to Sf and that he needed a special permit. That was news to me. He kept going on and for about 5 days about how he could not find a tow truck guy with a special license? Unheard of. About 3 days later he admitted he did not want to pay and that it would put him out as he was already out 3,500. I have a remaining loan for 6-7k and had to pay $900 for labor to a vehicle that does not even work and this guy was going to tell me how much he was spending too much money?! Hilarious. I ended up getting AAA to do it. The repair guy was cool keeping it at his shop for another few days but it was evident the dealer was trying leverage his good nature against me to pressure me into paying for it myself. My repairman said he's NEVER dealt with another dealer like this and recommended I sue. Lastly, Never buy a Land Rover and NEVER trust a guy who says "honestly" more than 5 times in a 3 min period. Run;)"
