During negotiations they had added in a paint treatment called Zaktek and an acid etching window treatment that is suppposed to help identify your car if it is stolen. When I told them I didn't want either they said they were already done to the car and couldn't be removed. Well they ended up removing the charge for the acid etching thing and at the last minute also removed the Zaktek. It turns out the Zaktek is something you have to apply every 6 months not once every 3 years like they originally led us to believe. Since we were driving from the other side of Phoenix I don’t think they actually wanted to explain that to us so they removed it at the last minute. The only problem was when they removed the Zaktek they also discounted our trade by approximately the same amount (we had already verbally agreed on a price with the Zaktek included). I decided to let this slide during the purchase since I figured we were only losing the warranty on the Zaktek (had told us repeatedly the treatment was already performed on the car). I later found out only the first 6 month treatment was complete. When I called them on this a day or two later there was of course limited to no response. Essentially they scammed us out of an extra $300 versus our original purchase agreement. Also, during negotiations, the sales manager tried to show me with a spreadsheet on a computer that they were at their break-even price on the car. I told them they paid too much for the car and that we wouldn’t be able to work out a deal. We left and within 45mins of leaving they had called us back and had come down about another $1300. One final thing, this dealer charges a doc fee of $449. They will try to hit you with this in the end. Make sure you specifically state that you are negotiating a price with the doc fee included."
