2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Review
by Msp727

Great fast rare car!

Great car for collecting or just having fun. Hard top is a much better looking car than soft top and rare. This car is fast too. Can't tell you the number of random comments I get from people. Super car!

Avg. Dealer Rating: (4 reviews) "I would like to provide an overview of the unethical and misleading sales tactics by Lia Hyundai of Albany so that other customers will not be duped. While I had initially believed that they were kind, service oriented, and ethical practitioners, it has sadly turned out that this is not the case. I worked with a woman named Dina who initially seemed fantastic, but turned out to be absolutely awful. She first agreed to a price with me on a used vehicle I was interested in, and we discussed everything I needed to bring to the closing to get the vehicle; talked about it for 20 minutes with an agreed upon price. She then calls me back 20 minutes later and says she made an "awful mistake," talked to her manager and the car price is now $500 more than we had just agreed upon moments ago. I now let her know that I understand, but I can no longer afford the car. I was then asked “really - that small amount will stand between you and the car?” (While I perceived this innocently at the time, in retrospect it now feels like another tactic in the routine way you do business: changing the terms of what we discussed, and implying either implicitly or overtly that I am cheap for not increasing my offer to reach this newly-adjusted price. I could have asked the same thing – only that small amount would stand between you and a sale? Apparently it is too much for the dealer to bear, but is assumed to b a miniscule commitment for the buyer.) But, at the time, I took it at face value, and agreed amiably to part ways. Two days later, she contacts me, and I again let her know my absolute budget, to which she writes "I think we can manage that!!!" Again, I believe that we have come to an agreement. This, again, was not the case. Over the next two days, the dealership continues to elevate the price by $5 -$10/month more than I can afford, all the while accusing me of being cheap for not agreeing to their renegotiated terms - yet they are unwilling to reduce their price to accommodate what we had already agreed to - for the second time. In all our conversations, Dina kept saying "it's only $5 more - you really shouldn't be so upset." Well, it is actually $300 over the life of the loan, and also put it over my monthly budget, and most importantly, was not what the dealership had agreed to. Not only that, but as they now tried to elevate the price over what we had agreed to, there was all of a sudden "another interested buyer," so "I really needed to take the deal or they may buy the car." That was the last straw for me, and when I finally told Dina that I was tired of her renegotiating the price of what we have already agreed to, she hung up on me mid sentence. Unbelievable! I wrote up my experience and emailed it to the general manager with direct quotes from texts sent between Dina and me that prove every part of the immoral and unethical conduct by Dina, their management, and their dealership. I have not received a response yet. Not only are they unethical and immoral, but they are also apparently afraid to address customers that they have spurned. I ended up purchasing the exact same car for $20/month less than what they continued to insist was a "fantastic deal that I won't get anywhere else." The bottom line is that I invested a lot of time, energy, and trust in my dealings with them. As I reflect back on the development of these conversations, I now see classic "bait and switch” tactics that were used. “Softly” agreeing to terms and then removing them, accusing me of being too cheap to accommodate more expensive adjustments by their dealership while simultaneously being told that they are too expensive to be borne by the dealer, and use of “other interested buyers” to continue to try and get me to acquiesce to elevated pricing over what was discussed and agreed upon. They are unethical, deplorable, and every possible stereotype you can think of when it comes to used car salesmen."
