The Anti-boring Minivan

I drove one of these for 3 weeks while I was on vacation. It was mixed in with a sea of Dodge Caravans and Chrysler Voyagers in the airport parking lot and I specifically picked it out because of it's looks. Nothing else mattered. I don't about performance. They are minivans how cool could they be? I was shocked. It is a good looking mini-van, and ...

Avg. Dealer Rating: (6 reviews) "I selected "dealer never responded by accident. I rate this dealer as "TERRIBLE!" I went in to purchase a vehicle for my son after speaking with the owner and agreeing on a day so that I could come in and check out the vehicle. Owner asked me to call him in advance so that he could take vehicle out of show room and have it ready for me, I agreed. I called Paulo on a Saturday and informed him that I was on my way his dealer and that I'd be there within the hour(I was driving from Boston) to take a look at the vehicle, he said he'd be expecting me. I arrived at the dealer and found the car parked outside and idling. A short man walked up to me and I asked if he was Paulo and he said no then pointed to another man parking a pick up and said, that's Paulo. I went over to car I was interested in and opened door and short guy told me it's ok to get in and check it out which I did. Paulo came up introduced himself and asked the short guy to get plates and told him to put them on car so that I could test drive it. I went on a test dride and noticed the car was riding a bit rough and it stalled a bit at first when I pressed gas. I drove about a mile down the road and drove back to dealer. Paulo asked me to come inside, took me to his office and asked me to sit. We spoke and I told him what I noticed on the test drive and he said he would fix everything before he sells me the vehicle. I asked him if he had done a tune up or any work when he got vehicle and he responded by saying that he had purchased vehicle a week ago. It had been listed for 32 days on CarGurus which I had informed him and he looked it up and said that he was sorry that time had gone by so fast. Then he said that a car with 40000 miles did not need spark plugs changed nor tune up but that the car was in perfect condition because he had a mechanic look at it anyway. We went back and forth and realized Paulo was contradicting himself and even flat out LYING in my face. I called him out on it and he went on to say that his ratings on-line are impeccable and that he only had one bad rating and that was because since guy didn't put money down he sold car but he also told me he gave this man, that gave him bad rating, his word that he would hold the vehicle if he was to come back on time they agreed on. Well his WORD as man ain't worth a penny. I gave this man a good amount of money for a down payment after we agreed he would fix the few "minor" problems it had and that I could pick up car on Wednesday( I was at dealer on a Saturday). I had to request time off from work in advance so I put in for Wednesday only to get a call from Paulo's secretary, whom does not speak English very well, on Tuesday and told me there was a problem with car and I asked what was wrong and she said she did not know so I asked to speak to Paulo and she said he would call back and hung up on me. I was furious. I called back and asked her why she hung up on me and she said Paulo is not there so I told her to tell him to call me back within the half hour because I was on my lunch and she said ok, Paulo called me back an hour and a half later and told me there was a problem with alternator(that explains car idling when I first visited dealer) and that he didn't think I was picking up car on Wednesday. I told him that he was the one that told me I could pick up on Wednesday(I had asked him on Saturday if he was sure he didn't need more time cause I could pick up on Thur. or Fri. and he said no). I told him that he knew of problem before hand that's why he wanted me to call him ahead of time so that he could have car on when I got there.( My fault and stupidity for not turning car off and checking). I asked him several questions and this man CONTRADICTED himself and LIED more times than I can count and I called him on it and he said I disrespected him, and to come pick up my money and hung up on me. I called back and his secretary picked up but in the past every time I called he picked up.( I called and hung up one time and he called me right back and left me a message, smh, this man's a COWARD!) I asked to speak to him and after a few seconds he picked up phone, said he would either mail money or I can come pick up and hung up. Paulo hung up on me 3x. Finally I got him to listen and asked him how can he get mad at me for telling him he lying to my face. I went in on Friday(today) and didn't see the car. He told me the car was fixed and I asked for paperwork and he said that the mechanic did not give him paperwork. I knew he was lying to my face so I asked him for proof of all the work and he said he didn't have it but that he would call mechanic. (At this point he asked one of his employees to go put gas in car and bring car up front.) He had no proof of any work he had done whats so ever. he then told me that you have to trust the people you do business with so that's why he didn't ask mechanic for any receipt but that the mechanic did give him an invoice. I asked Paulo for invoice and he said he didn't have it, that the mechanic didn't leave it with him. I told him he lied again and he went on and on with more and more lies and was very adamant and kept reassuring me that the car was in perfect, perfect condition, then his phone rang. He answered and I could hear his colleague on phone and Paulo sounds very surprised and confused and proceeds to speak Portuguese in front of me. I understood some of what they was talking about but didn't say anything to him. Paulo hung up and told me that he knew that I was going to be very angry with what he was about to tell me and then proceeded to tell me that the car would not shift into gear(transmission problem). I WAS SO INFURIATED because i had insured the vehicle and had been charged for the policy. Paulo realized he had been caught in all his dishonesty and there was nothing he can do so he offered to pay me back for whatever I had put down om insurance. I said NO THANKS just give me my money and to shred all the paperwork and proceeded to tell him he is the WORST and MOST DISHONEST BUSINESS MAN I'VE EVER MET IN MY LIFE. He didn't care that this was suppose to be a gift for my son, in the end he wanted my money and LIED to no avail but GOD DON'T LIKE UGLY! I WILL NEVER VISIT THAT PLACE AGAIN EVEN IF IT WAS THE LAST CAR DEALER LEFT."
