2006 Porsche Boxster S Review
by BoxsterBoy

A fantastic mid-engine sports car.

I owned an 04 Boxster and liked it, but I did not like the interior as it was dated especially with the new 911 interiors being released. I picked up a used 06 Boxster S last fall with only 4K miles on it. It is GT silver with a cocoa interior. It really does not have any bells and whistles, but as far as I am concerned it is meant for driving. ...

Avg. Dealer Rating: (17 reviews) "Saw on Car Guru that River Oaks Chrysler on Kirby had a Dodge Challenger Scat pack/shaker vehicle listed for 38,888.88. I called and arraigned for a test drive. When I arrived I was informed the sales man I had spoke with had gone to lunch. Ok, so another guy helps me. We go look at the car and it's beautiful. We start it and sit inside of it. So, finally I ask. Can we take it for a test drive? Sales guy oh, yea let me see if I can find the keys to the jeep blocking it in. So, after a while he comes out with the keys and moves the jeep. We take the car for a drive but in this part of town it's bumper to bumper traffic and the sales guy has no suggestion as to where we can go to really open the car up. So, back to the dealership. We go inside and I ask what is there best price on the car. They won't negotiate and say the listed price is what they want. I leave. I call on monday and make a offer of 36k. I'm told no they will only come down 200 dollars. I tell the sales guy I have my own financing. He suggest I come in after work and see if they can beat my interest rate. I go to the dealer after work they run the numbers and they get the same rate. The finance guy is ready to close the deal and ask me for my down payment of 8k. I tell him I wasn't ready to close the deal and I had no brought my check book nor the site draft from my bank. Ok, then lets start the paper work he said's. I'm like wait a minute I feel like I'm getting the hustle here. I thank him and the sales person and tell them I need to think about this. 511 a month is a lot of money. I leave and then call back on wednesday. I tell the sales guy I want the car. He said the boss decided when I walked out the deal was dead and they raised the price 1600. I'm confused. So, sales guy has some guy named Pete call me. Pete never identifies himself as to who he is or his title. I explain to pete I would like to buy the car and he lets me know they decided the car was worth more then it was advertised for, and have decided to relist the car for 1600 more then the previous price. I ask about my deal and he saids the deal was dead when I wouldn't sign the paper work on monday night. I explained I wanted to think about it, but he could care less. So, these guys would rather loose a sale and let the car sit over 1600 dollars. Then friday rolls around and I get a call from pete. I call him back, but he never tags me back. Strangest experience I have ever had with trying to buy a car. I'm 51 and have owned many cars. Only thing I can figure is this dealership doesn't like it when you want to negotiate on the price. If your not willing to give them full sticker on their cars then they don't want to have anything to do with you. Real strange group there at River Oaks. Also, the dealership is very run down looking. The used car sales offices look horrible. The place looks like a real dump inside and is in need of a make over or at least some fresh paint. I was thinking how little they think of their customers to have them sitting on beat up ratty chairs while negotiating a 40k purchase. Stay away from these guys. Something is really wrong with this dealership. I will never step foot in River Oaks dodge again and I will tell everyone I know about my experience with them."

Avg. Dealer Rating: (1 review) "They did fix some things on the 2003 Porsche Boxster before we picked it up. But then they want to charge us for a spare key. I thought that was very cheap on their part. When I purchased new tires the same day I picked up the car, Discount Tire noticed I had a crack in a wheel that I will have to replace. Also same day I picked up the car an air bag sensor came on warning of a problem with the air bag/seat belt."
