1999 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XL 4WD SUV Review
by Chelsea

Amazing quality, great buy.

Love it. Has about 250km on it, needed minimal work and this has seen true off road! Gas mileage in city isn't the greatest, but amazing on hwy. Acceleration pedal sticks a little. Paint has lasted, and minimal rust on back hatch. I do wish it had a more aggressive look.

Avg. Dealer Rating: (10 reviews) "The suggested retail price of a car in good condition was less than half of their asking price. The car knocked and had warning lights including check engine and airbag warning lights. The interior was broken in many places. Salesmen wanting to check your credit before they even talk to you about a car. I will have nothing to do with them or anyone they do business with."

They did not call me and the customer did not return to pick up the truck. When I called them they said the truck is still available. It is between you and 3 others who are interested 1st come 1st serve even though I live an hour and a half out of state. Can't really say they had bad service, but the way they handled me was a turn off."

Avg. Dealer Rating: (3 reviews) "I looked at this Dodge with a price of $2995.00 which had been on the internet for 9 days, when I went to do the paper work the price was raised to $3995.00 even though it was looked at by a male neighbor for $2995.00 who was going to buy it but decided on a car instead, I am kind of disappointed because I always felt this dealer was a fair and honest person. Up to that point I would recommend the dealership to any one who asked me."

Avg. Dealer Rating: (8 reviews) "I cannot tell you how impressed I am with this dealership. We purchased a 2001 Hyundai Accent from Arvid, who was so patient and respectful of us, as we scrutinized car after car. He was not pushy AT ALL--he just listened to what we were looking for: good gas economy, reasonable miles for the price and age of the car, and a VERY LOW price. We came close to buying a different car, but then we saw this one, which had much better mileage. I felt badly when I realized it was Arvid's "company car"--the one he'd been driving to and from work--but he was cheerful throughout. Later, we had an issue on our end with our check, and the way the owner, Ahmad helped us work it out was beyond kind. So much respect for these people's character. I want to buy all my cars here."

Avg. Dealer Rating: (2 reviews) "I emailed Bob (guy who handles internet sales) about a focus titanium and let him know I was interested but lived over 100 miles away. I needed to know if the car had ANYTHING wrong with it before I drove the long distance. I also informed Bob I was coming with a check in hand as I did not want to drive home again to go to my bank only to drive up to the dealership again. He assured me the there was nothing wrong with the car so I stopped at the bank, picked up the check, and started my 100+ mile journey. On my way to the dealership Bob text me to tell me he had to leave that day and to ask for a salesman named Sam. It was all setup for Sam to take care of me as this was a done deal as long as the car checked out the way Bob said it would. When I arrived Sam was busy with another buyer but told me to go check out the car while he finished up. As soon as I saw the car I noticed the new tires that the ad had noted (they still had the nobbies on them). When I opened the door I noticed the car didn't have leather seats. This was a problem as it was advertised with leather. But I did drive a long, long way so I was willing to overlook this if the rest of the car checked out. As it turns out the missing leather was only the start of this horrible experience. I took the car out for a test drive and immediately noticed the steering wheel was turned to the 2 o'clock position when the car was going straight. I've never seen a car out of alignment this bad. How did Bob not mention this to me through emails or on the phone??? And how was this car this jacked up after being on the dealers lot since January??? Total Busch league! I made sure to ask Bob about even small scratches I needed to know about before I drove all that way. When I returned to the dealer I told Sam I wasn't buying the car and I was extremely unhappy I was lied to about the leather, and the condition of the car. He asked me to please talk to the sales a manger and I agreed. I was 2 hours from home at this point so why not. That's when I met Trevor. As you'd expect Trevor promised to fix it all like a typical sales manager would. He said he'd have his guys look at the car in the morning, have it fixed, and deliver it to my house. He claimed to realize how bad his company had treated me and wanted to fix it. I don't know why but I agreed to save this deal and buy the car if they fixed it and delivered it to me. I'd like to tell you it all worked out and I now own a great car..... Can't do that though. Next day I had to email them around lunch as they never got back to me. Bob said the car was now aligned but it needed two new rear tires and that would cost me (yes you read that correctly it was going to cost ME) $200. I told Bob the tires were advertised as "New" in the online ad, and I had looked at them the day before and they were in fact "NEW". Bob said they had flat spots and needed replaced and it was going to cost me $200. He said he was trying to "fix" the situation and make me happy. And his way of doing that was to charge me $200 more after I drove 200 miles round trip to buy a car that wasn't as advertised. This was enough for me. At this point I felt like I had been lied to by Bob multiple times. So I called back to talk to sales manager Trevor whom I met the night before And I was told Trevor wasn't the sale manager at all. Odd since Sam told me he wanted me to talk to the sales manager and brought Trevor to me the night before. More lies? Sure seems that way. Trevor told me I was no longer dealing with Bob and he'd take care of it. He called me back hours later and told me he talked to the "higher ups" and they couldn't take anymore money off the car. The focus has been for sale for over 90 days and it had dropped in price a few times already. I would have to pay $200 (which I was assured by Trevor was the dealer cost) if I wanted to buy the focus. Odd that the tires were exactly $100 a piece dealer cost. Sure seems like more lies. The deal I made was $11,900 for the focus. They had it listed for $12,400, and now they wanted $12,100 for it and they'd deliever it. $200 more dollars for an issue that wasn't mine at all. In NO way did they try to resolve this problem. The solution they came up with after telling me they'd take care of the cars problems and deliver it to me was to charge me $200. Great solution for the dealership. Let's try to charge the customer more money and make them think we are helping them. After thinking about it a bit I figured they were trying to charge me the extra $200 to offset they're cost of delivering the focus to me. The car did NOT need new tires period. They were brand new when I saw them. I'm guessing the dealership needed to offset the cost of 2 employees, 4 hours for those employees, and two cars and gas to deliever the focus to me. Like I said the tires were new and in no way needed to be replaced. I feel like I was lied to multiple times, by multiple people from this dealership. The ad they had online was not correct, the car was not as advertised, and when the dealership messed up they tried to pass the cost off on me. In no way is any of this acceptable to me. I would NEVER deal with this dealership again, or any of the three sales people I dealt with again. If I had read a review like this before I contacted this dealership I would have NEVER contacted them to begin with. I hope this helps someone down the road."
