"This story is worth reading if you are considering doing business with this dealership. Date of story: June 19, 2012.
First of all let me vindicate their new salesman Josh. He was great. I have no complaints about him.
1. I bought a new car from Sunset in 1999, and now being in the market for another vehicle, I was eager to revisit them, with high expectations of perhaps buying another car from them, after seeing a suitable vehicle advertised on the internet.
2. My wife and I made an appointment one day in advance and drove 125 miles to see the vehicle in question. I asked for Josh, whom I had spoken to on the phone. He very quickly had us out for a test drive. We liked the car and asked to see the sales manager to negotiate a price.
3. We were introduced to a guy in a glass enclosed office overlooking the showroom floor. I wish I had gotten his name, but it might have been Brian. I'm just not sure, but in any case, he was identified to us as the Sales Manager.
4. We briefly explained to him that, we lived a long distance from the city, and had come to town with a list of 7 cars to see that day and would make our decision at the end of the day, based on price, condition, and mileage. We asked for his "sell price" for the car we liked.
5. The two previous dealers that we had visited that day had readily given us a sell price, and we expected the same here. Wrong. Not that I am in the habit of prejudging people, but this guy looked and dressed like a thug. I should have guessed what came next. Without even so much as a "Hi, glad to meet you", he immediately accused my wife and I of "shopping him", and said he “didn't do business that way”. He didn't even try to sugar coat it. He said it with the most sincere sneer that I have ever seen.
6. What could we say to that? We immediately walked out, only to be accosted by another salesman, who asked, "What would it take to put you in this car today"? Hmmm, let's see, how about a personal apology. Did I mention that we are retired people? We are not accustomed to being treated this way, particularly by someone who we might have spent several thousand dollars with.
7. The end of this story is that we ended up buying the same car from a different dealership, actually for more money than this guy had on his window sticker, and we were happy when we left, because we had been treated with respect.
8. I really hope this gets back to his boss, because this guy needs to be fired, and put back out on the street. Maybe he can do better selling drugs because that's the only profession I can think of where his disposition would be an asset."

"We found Bocker Auto Group on the internet. We drove to their dealership to look at a specific car. However, it was not what we expected. As we pulled in to the lot we saw this pristine 2005 Dodge SXL Avenger and it was love at first sight. From the sales representative to the loan officer it could not have been more perfect. Would recommend the drive to Freeport, IL."
