honda fit and snow

I currently drive a Hyundai Elantra that was just fine in this winters central Iowa snow and ice storms. I really like the Fit but am concerned that it will not do as well in winter weather. All I can get from the salesman is "Hey, it's a Honda, you can always trade it in." Which really does not help me at all. I am looking at the 08 Fit Sport. Any advice?
