1996 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV Reviews
| “Watch What You Buy!! Research, Research, Research!!!” It cost us WAAAAY too much to purchase, Parts are expensive, it's unreliable, upgrades have to come from the states and the car yard used Chemiweld to hide a cracked head. Would Not buy another car from those dodgy f@#kers!!! Should have done more research on the car AND the car dealer!
Pros —
Looks american gangsterish!
Cons —
Unreliable!
|
| “Good Vehicle. Reliable.” Owned for a couple of years. No major problems.
Pros —
good size (not too big, nor too small). reliable.
Cons —
safety scare some years back hurt resale value. Not fuel efficient.
|
| “Bullet Proof” meh, it treats me like poop

| “My First Suv” Not too bad
Pros —
Big SUV, great sound with custom exhaust
Cons —
Bad transmission
|
| “Real Name, Ford Exploder” Comfortable, but the suspension is crap, the 4WD doesn't work on angles due to the vacuum lines cupping out.
Pros —
Good handling, decent power for a V6, comfortable
Cons —
Auto trans...gets about 10MPG
|
| “Cruiser” not the best mpg for what it is (4.0 V6)
Pros —
4wd, comfortable
Cons —
rust, gas mileage, not enough power for my liking
|
| “It's On It's Way To The Grave.” Obviously, the car in the pictures is not mine. Mine has a lot more wear on it. Has over 214,000 miles. Back hatch doesn't open, only has one wiper and gets about 10 miles to the gallon. But it's never not started and always runs strong. I'll be testing it out on my road trip in May.
Pros —
It runs good.
Cons —
It's a FORD.
|
| “Built Like A Tank!” Has a nice interior, XLT comes with alloy wheels.
Pros —
Feels solid, very reliable.
Cons —
Drinks gas!
|
| “She Runs, She Hauls, She Should Live Forever” So, yeah, slushbox, heavy, poor gas milage, and currently in need of tons of work, but she pulled the first 180k miles really easily and painlessly, and hopefully will give me 120k more without too much trouble.
Pros —
Owned, No Payments, Hasn't Exploded
Cons —
Needs new: tyres, shocks/struts, springs, and probably loads more I'm forgetting

| “Had Lots Of Fun Travelling Memories In This Car.” It was great on long distance trips, the 4X4 was pretty good, it wasn't bad on performance.
Pros —
It could fit lots of my friends, and keep us warm in the winter, and cool in the summer.
Cons —
My door handles kept breaking. LOL.
