| “The 1996 Altima- Fantastic Package” I recieved this altima as my very first car almost two years ago. 128,500 miles later it is still as quick on the pavement ( not to mention reliable) as I'm sure it was when it rolled off the lot almost a decade ago. 1996 was the most refined of the Altima's of the first generation with the fewest defects. It's styling turns heads every once and a while and people still say "nice" The I4- K4ADE for the line comes equipped with 150 horsepower. I was sceptical of it's power to begin with, but after passing a logging truck at 100mph and scaring the hell out of myself I was proven quite wrong. The only defect in that area is the fact that any incline requires you to push the vehicle a little to make it up a gradual incline. It's perfectly fine for the daily driver despite a small amount of engine and road noise. The interior is well made and still cleans up nicely after almost 11 years. A little bland but the simulated wood grain on the dash brings a touch of class to the car. On it's introduction Nissan called it "The Affordable Luxury Sedan" I can't possibly agree with them anymore than I already do.
Pros —
acceleration is crisp, handeling is mor than adequate, Interior is extremely durable and well made.
Cons —
Inline 4 has trouble making it up hills unless pushed, Road and engine noise are apparent at higher speeds.
