starts out with a nice burnout. it has needed a lot of repairs and it gets 30 city mpg. this car is a fun little beater and will go as fast as i woul ever want her to go. and my mossy oak interior looks great in it.

Extremely fuel efficient. Small fun car to drive, it got me everywhere I ever needed! Didn't have the heart to trade it in when I bought my Focus, so I kept it, it is still used. Very rarely needed to go to the shop, only had one thing major happen to it. Wrecked once, took me forever to fix! It's a good car!
Pros:
fuel efficient, fun to drive
Cons:
two doored cars aren't fun at times especially when you have lots of people trying to cram into the car!

Not a bad car for a first car. Good gas mileage. only problem is the head gasket goes easily and the parts are too expensive for such a cheap car.

parts way to expensive $1500 for head gasket replacement

After my brief encounter with a 1990 Volvo, I received my first REAL car, a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2, as a highschool graduation gift. After years of road abuse from the wear and tear of the bumpy gravel and the long road trips home ( I travel a lot by the way), I have found that this little old coupe can be a real trooper. Now that's now to say that I haven't had problems with it; infact, I just had to rebuild the transmission due to a lot of transmission defects. However, the transmissions problem mainly resulted from the high mileage trips. All in all this car makes a great starter car, very affordable and reliable.
Pros:
For the most part this car is very reliable and can withstand heavy mileage.
Cons:
The interior space in limited for passengers and lags with heavy weight.
