2002 Acura TL S Reviews
| “Honda Car With A Bad Transmission” It was a toss up between this and a BMW 330i. I liked the 330i because they offered it in a manual transmission, but comparably equipped, the BMW was 10k more. The transmission could use some redesign, but overall, I'm pleased with the car. Been running Mobil 1 since about 20k miles, and it's got 125k on it now - not burning any oil, and has gotten 24.1 mpg (19-34) over its life.
Pros —
Honda reliability most everywhere 'cept the transmission
Cons —
have i mentioned the transmission?

| “Great Car But Soft Tranny” fit and finish is great but that engine is crazy....prrrss when you are crusing but when you stomp on the gas ...you have just unleashed a lion...But one problem..the tranny is soft..due to defective parts and material selection on honda's part...and they openly admit it in recall letters but never in public..go figure.....anyways...just be prepared to pay at least 4 grand for a rebuilt tranny for this puppy....and for all you ppl who will read this ....NO i didn't drive this car like a retard...with a heavy lead foot...its all long distance driving and commuting from home to work and daily trips to the city...and yes i did all my car up keep religiously even with the dealership, using the best synthetic oils in the busness ie...lucas oil and royal purple..from what i understand they fixed the tranny problem in the 04's and up.....Dont' get me wrong....i still love acura power but i'd just get the improved model from this one.
Pros —
great engine, fast when you need it to be
Cons —
tranny is soft ie: defective torque converter ...4k to to get a rebuild tranny

| “Excellent Built Quality And The 260hp Engine Is Very Powerful!” Had the car for almost a year. It was a company car. I was very happy with the upscale interior and the large boot space. The car was very comfortable to drive on long trips. The engine was very powerful and made an amazing noise when accelerated on full throttle. Handling was also excellent. Type S features a sports suspension but doesn't compromise ride quality. One major disadvantage is the notchy automatic transmission that takes forever to find the right gear. The car is solid thought and a good buy with all the "goodies" that includes like power everything, leather etc.
Pros —
engine, built, handling
Cons —
notchy transmission

| “Better Than Any Of The (3) Benzes I Have Owned!” Almost 90k miles and still runs like new!
Pros —
Lightweight (fast!), sunroof, gas mileage, Glorified Honda so it doesn't brake!
Cons —
Front Wheel Drive, No Navigation System!

| “Fav Gen Of Tl's” CAR IS GREAT, BUT HAS A MAJOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM & LITTLE THINGS ABOUT THE CAR SUCK... BUT LOOKS WISE, WOW THIS THING IS B-E-A-UTIFUL
Pros —
CAR HAS BEAUTIFUL LINES, TYPE-S GETS UP & GOES, NICE SOUNDING EXHAUST, GREAT BOSE SYSTEM, CLEAN LOOKING INTERIOR, SHIFT-TRONICS.
Cons —
TRANSMISSION ISSUE, CAR WASN'T PUT TOGETHER WELL...WEATHER STRIPPING, EXT. TRIM PIECES FADING, INT. DOOR PANELS EXPANDING&CRACKING. IN-DASH CD PLAYER EATS CD'S AND IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. TYPE-S IS A GAS GUZZLER, FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. NOT ENOUGH SOUND DAMPENING, LOUD FOR A LUXURY CAR
