2003 Volkswagen Passat GLS Reviews

This car is a total sleeper very quick the 1.8T motor on it is amazing stable on the highway the looks of it will make you look like an old man but people underestimate what this car can do very fun car to drive gas mileage is great and maintenance on it is great

Overall great car.

Most comfortable car I have ever owned, and I have had some road hogs over the past 50 years (I'm old).  Long trips are a pleasure, mpg is great.  Performace?  Just plain fun, 100 mph+ very smooth, but not recommended.  There has been some question on VW reliability, I am in my 4th year with my Passat (38,000) with no problems.  

I upgraded to a 03 Passat from a 2000 Jetta in 2006.  The difference between the two is evident from as soon as you sit in the drivers seat.  Standard rear sunshade is a very nice feature that is optional or not available in most other cars in its class.  The leather interior is a must in any VW of course with heated seats.  The added steering wheel controls is nice although it does not have a mode button (CD,FM,AM) which defeats the purpose.  The stock rims are a pain to clean and are not big enough for the car... it should have 17 inch rims stock.  The 0-60 could be a little bit better but when on the highway you can leave pretty much every other car in its class in the dust.  Shift into fourth at 50 put your foot to the floor and you can shift into fifth at about 90 and do it without even pushing the car.  Second gear is also nice when you hear the turbo begin to spool up and people on the street look at you and wonder how this beautiful sound is coming from a stock VW.  Its called German engineering and its wonderful.  I give the Passat a good rating because for the money you can not get anything American in its class that even compares.  This is an awesome car for everyday driving and its fun as hell to drive.
