A great german-engineered car with lots of problems though. The innovation at the time was great, as VW introduced the 20v 1.8T. However I experienced many mechanical problems, mostly with the automatic 01m transmission (notorious for railure), and electrical. Had to replace tranny twice within a year. I loved the community surrounding the mods of vw's though, and the mk4 had endless tuning options. Car was overall a sleek simple looking one too. Interior is simple enough to be elegant. Handling was okay, pretty normal for an econobox.
Pros:
German Engineered, Quality of materials and design, 1.8T, Modifications, Culture
Cons:
Mechanical failure, so-so mileage, expensive repairs

The mark IV Jetta has received less than stellar reviews for reliability, particularly regarding its electrical system. However, I've been nothing but thrilled with my turbo GLS model since the first day I drove it off the lot. It's not too big or too small, the trunk is huge, the gas mileage only improves as I near 90K miles, and the acceleration is great! The car is also very solid and quiet. It's a ton of fun to drive. I typically get tired of cars within two or three years of ownership, but I still love my VW after more than eight years! I don't plan to ever get rid of it!
Pros:
Very solid build, good gas mileage, exceptional acceleration
Cons:
A few recalls in the first year, but they were addressed for free, and the car has been very reliable.

Bought JT second hand from the original owner in Chicago. Love driving JT but drawbacks include mass airflow issues, lots of maintenance and engine light is always on even right after I resolve the error codes. :( Two words: Extended Warranty!! :)
Pros:
CUTE and FUN car to drive. Not bad on gas mileage but lots of engine issues
Cons:
Maintenance costs are $$$

My Jetta has a 3" turboback exhaust that is a beast at wide open trottle. I just love the way its sounds when i stomp on it. I have some upgraded cross drilled rotors, but they are nothing special. Split Second boost controller turns up the boost when I need the extra power. There are patec coilovers installed that lower the car quite a bit, I can only fit one finger between the wheel and the fender both front and back. Spacers push the back wheels out to give it a more aggressive look. Rear sway bar keeps the car on the ground while taking hard corners. Stg 1 clutch transfer most of the power to the wheels. HID's keep the road lite up nicely while drving at night.

Its a good car it has over all good quality. Ive had a few problems with performance but nothing i cant fix myself. Its a pretty cheap car with fair gas mileage. Its a very fun car to drive on a flat road u can hit 100 MPH easy. Ovrall its a good car.

Sweet sound system. plenty of options for cheap car ie: heated seats, sun roof, 6 disc CS player, leather...etc. i dont like how the back seat gets very little leg room but it is supposed to be a compact car. Overall tight handling fun car to drive around. done.
