1999 Chevrolet Suburban 4 Dr C2500 LT SUV Reviews
“Great Family Vehicle That We Get To Drive On Free Fuel!”
We bought this truck ultimately to pull a travel trailer with, in order to replace our motorhome which gas prices had permanently benched.
I have converted it to run on the waste vegetable oil that restaurants discard, thus currently saving us about $400/mo in regular fuel expenses. We already have about 40k miles on veggie oil, so the system has proven itself quite well. I bought the newest Suburban they put a Diesel (required for the conversion) in, but it's still a nine-year-old vehicle with plenty of miles... While we've had a few issues relating to its age, there have been no significant issues with the conversion thus far.
It's so nice to still enjoy the freedom to jump in and take a Saturday drive to the mountains, etc., without pausing to consider whether we can justify spend the money on $4/gal fuel...
We hope to put a trailer behind it this spring and resume the pleasure of camping together again.
