In 1990 VW dropped the GLi variant which was replaced by the GTX. The mark 2 chassis and 16 valve 2.0 litre engine were complimented with BBS cross-spoked 15 inch rims and Recaro electric height adjustable racing seats. This variant was limited to two years in production.
Pros:
A beautiful sedan which handles very well and accelerates quickly. Lots of interior space and very comfortable for long journies.
Cons:
Being from it's first year of production, this magnificent engine had a few faults.

My $400 daily that needs to get worked on to be great, never washed.
Pros:
Stickes with a subbie rs in the twisties, sweet handling, short gear tranny, fun snow tires. $400
Cons:
Needs everything, old engine, stupid injection system, rattly.

Very Fun Car, Rare and Expensive to keep up, parts hard to find. Car was a bit too High Performance for the VW Range when originally offered to public, only 5000 per Model Year Produced.
Pros:
Fast, Can Turn on a Dime, Stealthy Sports Car, Kicked off a Following for the GLI Line, that came back in 2002
Cons:
Needed more Stock Power, better Tansmission and better quality Sound System
