2001 Chevrolet Malibu Base Reviews
| “A Good First Car” A very Nice Car with great acceleration and braking. The handling is great and can turn on a dime. It has had a few problems, such as the ABS doesn't work and the engine light comes on from time to time but it doesn't affect driving. It's a nice looking car both inside and out. It gets around 20 MPG which is not great but is ok for a '01.
Pros —
Easy to Drive
Cons —
Electronic Problems
|
| “It Gets Me Around” All around its an ok car. Mid size so you have room but its not a boat.
Pros —
ok gas mileage, V6 so it has a little power. And its a Chevy!!
Cons —
Built poorly.

| “Rest In Peace Buddy...” My first car and the car I learned how to drive in. It was defective and broke down at least 3 times a month. I called it Negative Nixon. When it worked it was amazing. When it didn't.... well at least it looked good sitting in the garage. hahahaha. I had some great memories in that car. I'd still have it, but in late 2007 some jackass ran a red light and totalled it out.
Pros —
The memories.
Cons —
Everything Else.

| “Piece Of Junk, Doesn't Run, I Use It For Parts, And As A Learning Tool” see above, 'nough said
Pros —
had good power (when it actually worked!)
Cons —
Oil Leaks, bad gaskets, Emissions problems (cat.), body leaks rain water, eletrical problems (both before and especially after it started leaking water)

| “Ugly. Over Priced. American Built Pos!” The smaller of Chevrolet's two midsize sedans slots below Impala in size, price, and market position. Malibu offers base and LS models, both with a V6, automatic transmission, and ABS. Impala can seat six; Malibu has front bucket seats for 5-passenger capacity. For 2001, power door locks and a rear defogger are now standard on the base model as well as the LS.
Pros —
It withstood a lot of beating that I gave it. Pretty safe in after two car accidents.
Cons —
UGLY, Velour seats, vinyl interior, UGLY, Horrible in deep snow, Trunk had an "unfinished" look, passenger mirror had no adjustment knobs, gas consumption sucked: 19/21

| “My Fathers Car” I hate driving this car, but it is pretty fast for a stock sedan, and very practical. It has had normal wear and tear but still rips pretty good. Its really good for a front wheel drive car for drifting in the snow.
Pros —
Quick, decent for drifting, Practical
Cons —
Boring to drive, Looks like every other car

| “Super Reliable Mali-blue!”
This poor car can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'! My Mali-blue is a former rental car, purchased in 2003 with 34,000 miles on her. She's now at 119,000 and still going strong!
Pros —
"Believe-it-or-not" fun to drive!
Cons —
None!
|
| “Not Too Pretty, But Drives Well And Is Reliable.” Not happy that I have this car, but it's decent I guess.
Pros —
Handling.
Lots of space in the trunk.
Cons —
Random things happen to it; tree limbs falling upon it, cars hitting you in the taco bell parking lot.

Ok before I begin, I'd like to say that I've never experienced the intake manifold gasket problem that so many other people seem to have, and I'm quite pleased with my car. |
