| “N/a” When i first saw the jeep it didn't take me very long before i knew that i wanted it. The body was in great shape for an 96, it only had 235000 kms on it. I plan on turning it into a 4 wheeler when it is paid off. It is a great truck to drive.
Pros —
Strong engine, handles good, lots of room.
Cons —
nothing
|
| “My Car” It's not made in Germany and the torque converter in the back wheels doesn't work to well anymore

| “Great For Its Time” The 1996 Grand Cherokee is an incredibly capable all-weather vehicle. With a 5.2L V8 motor, it's plenty quick to get where you need to go and haul most of what you need behind.
Pros —
V8 power, simple design, Infinity Gold stock stereo.
Cons —
NP249 transfer case and Dana 44 aluminum rear axles are trouble spots with all V8 Grand Cherokees from 1993-1998. Gas mileage? If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

| “Unbelivable Work Horse” Unlike most owners, I have had *no* major problems with this Jeep after 160K miles. Minor expected repairs only. This thing hauls very well as I tow 5000lbs often with it. I have also had 5-10 off-road trips with it where again I was very impressed with its capability. Decent interior room, yet still small enough to fit into tight parking spaces. I've been really pleased with this vehicle.
Pros —
Uber-capable, easy to work on, affordable parts, rugged design
Cons —
So-so gas mileage (15-20), the 6cyl is reliable but weak at highway speeds.

Reliable 4WD! Solid Feel and Luxury Interior! Comfortable but Off Roadable Too!
Cons —
Gas mileage not so great

| “A Great Car” Got this after we totaled our '89 Jeep Cherokee. Definitely a more comfortable ride (smoother), but the "Grand" is so much heavier than the Cherokee that the 4.0 liter engine just doesn't cut it. (The same engine in the '89 was great - lots of power.) Has been very low maintenance, although the AC never has worked right.
Pros —
It's paid for.
Cons —
AC is unplugged.
