When I first got this car I bought it based on the fact it had much betteer build quality that any other small car from the big 3. I did not want to go import because that would have meant an older car with more miles and less power. After buying the car I realized alot of my money would be going into it. I weant online and there were so many aftermarket parts avalable (and not just from ebay) I was like a kid in a candy store. I began visiting www.focussport.com quite often. It was than i realized, I had joined the unofficial focus owners club. As I began to buy parts I saw the potential these cars have. Now I have a car that really does reprensent what i hoped and dreamed it would be; a monster in sheeps clothing. My mod list is as follows:
Pros:
Goes like a raped ape
Encourages gaining speed in corners Loud as a mofo but with a rumble that would scare any honda. Looks great, wide tires give great stance Chicks dig it Still gets 35 mpg or better on the hwy. Headlights that rival the sun Gets me from A-B in a swift fashion Makes RX-8's second guess themselves
Cons:
Gets under 40 mpg on the highway
Only drinks 92-94 octane (loves race gas) Torque steer is present Exhaust can get somewhat tiring on long trips Been pulled over for exhaust being too loud and headlights too bright No cat means aircare time is gonna cost more money |

A solid chassis with a decent drive train and brilliant suspension. Stock performance is adequate, but really shines with help from the diverse aftermarket. Easy to maintain, but build quality is of lower quality compare to its European brother. Very fun car, very tossable in the corner, and you can find them cheap enough to not care. A bloody brilliant car, too bad Ford is too stupid to give this model and much needed updated (a true update, not a makeover).
Pros:
Blood brilliant chassis.
Cons:
Ford cheapen the American release.

Pretty decent car overall. I've installed 17" wheels and a cold air intake. It's certainly not fast, but with a 5 speed and a sunroof it's fun to drive. I've gotten 32 mpg on trips which I think is pretty good.
Pros:
Gas mileage, fun to drive, and surprisingly roomy.
Cons:
Some repair issues.

This was the first car I ever got on my credit, I was 21 looking for a hot rod and this wasn't it, I loved but it can' take abuse, it needed more power and I should never have settled for the Auto. I hope to some day do a block build with an SVT and have as my play car just to recapture my youth.
Pros:
Economical, smooth, good overall handling.
Cons:
Underpowered, weak front end, not abuse proof.

Amazingly great car mpg and reliablity, a little slow stock BUT with a CAI and exhuast deacently quick and these cars handle like a dream.
Pros:
mpg, leg room, great sound quality in car.
Cons:
none i can think of.
