Total garbage... these cars have one of the most sordid reliability records of anything ever
made. On par with 70s Italian sports cars in terms of overall quality and reliability.

Pros — Huge V12 engine
Cons — Over-engineered unreliable garbage

It's Really A 740il; Cariq Doesn't Know 740's Exist. Nor Was It "li" Until 2002

It's actually a 740iL; CarIQ doesn't seem to know that 740's exist; nor that only the new models are Li (2002 and up). It was iL before then.

Drives quite nice even though it sucks gas like it's free. In sport mode you can get it down to a whopping 4 mpg. I had to replace the four sub-woofers in my car since the rubber foam broke from all the years in the sun; other than that it's been good. The premium sound system in it is pretty good; it's made by Phillips apparently.

Pros — Comfy, decently quick.
Cons — Uses gas like it's free.

I had to list is as a 750, because 740 was not avail as an option.  This is my 1995 BMW E38 740iL, great car. Reliable, and decent power for it's size

Pros — V8 power, timeless elegant looks
Cons — Weak cooling system, suspension rebuilds necessary after 100k

I actually have a 1989 750il, so this review could be wrong for the '95 model...the main problem with mine is electrical malfunctions.  BMW tried to make everything automatic/electric, and the technology of the day just wasn't reliable enough to make this a good idea.  However, the engine, even though it uses fairly old tech like SOHC 2 valves/cylinder, is very muscular, with over 300 ft-lbs. of torque.  Of course the car weighs more than 4000 pounds, so you really do need that much to get it moving.  I've never actually raced it, but in my experience, this car allows you to pass most other cars on the highway with ease =)

Pros — torque
full leather
comfortable ride
stable
Cons — weight
numerous electrical problems
questionable engine reliability (overheats occasionally)
