Balancer shafts (pre-valvetronic) made this the smoothest 4-pot I had ever driven. Handling is typically BMW impeccable.

Sporty handling for a saloon. Smooth 4-pot.
Cons:
Thermostat in expansion tank tends to get stuck. Lack of power.

I test drove the '98 BMW 318i for two days and fell in love with it. The car was so much fun to drive! The suspension was tight and very sporty. Driving this car was a blast!
