Great handling.  Acceration after 2nd gear is good.  Common problems for me were the piston rings, clutch, and transmission.  The transmissions on these cars were not for sport cars at all, but more for 4 cylinder sedans.  So as you can see if you update the tranny and rear end, nothing could stop you from fully upgrading the engine after that.  Gas mileage is terrible... 14-18 mpg, but fun to drive and easily spotted by cops.

Pros: Body style, handling, and speed/accelleration of higher gears.
Cons: Transmission, clutch, piston rings, and mpg.

I have an 88 with a 2.8 and a borg-warner t-5,    not a corvette,  but will leave any normal passenger car behind.    It's fun to drive,   light rear end and strong transmission makes it a little light in the rain,  but fun on a dirt road
