this van is one of a kind. it is one of the firstrear wheel drive vans on the market. i drive this van sometimes when i have to get something and when none of the other cars are a home.

Pros — lots of room, lots of power and good engine sound.
Cons — old as hell and uses alot of gas with a big 4.3 liter v6 engine

The Chevrolet Astro was a rear-wheel drive minivan introduced by Chevrolet in 1985 to rival domestic (American) competitors the Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager twins and the Japanese Toyota Van. Also sharing the Astro's truck-based platform was its sibling, the GMC Safari. In addition to standard passenger uses, the vans were also available as cargo vans, and converters used them as the basis for small conversion vans.

Pros — Lots and lots of room
engine reliability
Cons — Cheap quality
poor gas mileage

Good van for all around hauling. Very dependable, few problems, never any major repair work. This van was pruchased in 2000 with 63k and kept until 2007 with 178k.

Pros — Good people hauler
Cons — steering components seem to wear faster than usual

the astro van is a very powerful and sturdy american made machine. so far i have enjoyed owning one very much. it has an overly generous amount of cargo room, rides fairly well when out on the road,is extremely easy to operate its controls and the matinence on it is a breeze. the interior is very well detailed and has various storage and cubbies through out the vehical, this also adds to increased versatility . The engine of this van is very powerful and provides more than acceptable acceleration for a vehical this size and weight. the transmission shifts well and smoothly, and its low range gearing is very useful in bad weather conditions.
