1995 Chevrolet Lumina Reviews
“I Shared This Car With My Family Until I Messed It Up. First Car That I Sped Excessively With.”
This car was actually a good sedan for its age. It had a V6, so its fuel economy was average. It safely transported us for years. Then, I messed it up.
Oh man, I sped like crazy with this car. The fastest I've ever went was 80 MPH on a 35 MPH street. Our Lumina's motorcycle-like exhaust note just gave me more encouragement to go zoom zoom. I sped excessively on almost every road that I drove. Surprisingly, the only Police Tickets that I've ever gotten with this car were Parking Tickets. Yeah, I was a crazy driver back then. Ha ha.
My insane driving severely damaged our Lumina on the inside. I know what exactly got damaged, but I don't want to explain because it is difficult for some people to understand. The damage was very expensive to repair. Thus, we gave it up to our trusted technician and got a little money for it. That's why I don't drive like that anymore.
“First Year Of Rounded Out Lumina's Rocked!”
Well, a '94 lumina looked like a box with wheels - the '95 lumina had the more modern curved look and actually held the look and feel way into 2000... Anyway, i treated that car like crap. I put it up on two wheels driving around a corner, i crashed it several times, and while i was doing 80 over a curved bridge (with no shoulder) the front axle came off (no joke!). Fortunately, the fact the axle was crammed under the car worked like a braking system and i pulled over as far as I could on the right lane.
So besides being some kind of secret military tank, the car had issues under the hood. I blew 3 gaskets in a period of 3 years!! I mean, c'mon! I know this type of engine had a tendency to blow them - but usually only once. So the gasket would blow, and all the coolant would fly out of the car - fun stuff.
Other then that she was a great car until I jumped her over some train tracks. Would have ended out great if I hand't jumped over the tracks crooked. When I came down out of the air I drove into the curb that knocked the front end out of alignment.
Oh - and the trunk wouldn't shut after awhile. So I taped it down with duck tape. And once my friend got drunk and rammed into the passenger side door with his head. He meant to do it tho - not an accident.
So the car had been through a lot - but still wasn't ready to retire when I left it behind in 2005. (I had originally picked up the car as a used vehicle with 60k miles in '99 or '98). Someone actually came around and bought it off me for $500. Wow - what a trooper vehicle.
