1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Reviews
“So So”
2 trannies and a hard to diagnose miss....its a pain
“Tire-smoking Power And Supermodel Looks”
The 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo Z-34 is a racy, NASCAR-inspired two-door sport coupe. The vehicle has ample power from the 3.4L engine, and the available exterior and interior accessory options make for a very personalized vehicle.
The LS coupe came with a 3.1L V-6 engine, which is known for blowing head gaskets (same engine as the Chevy Cavalier). The Z-34 is an excellent powerhouse which is hard to work on, based on how it is sandwiched into the engine compartment, but which on the whole will not spend too much time being worked on anyway, as it is a driver, not a trailer queen.
The interior on these is large enough that a tall guy can drive the car comfortably (a problem for me with newer cars). This is what drew me to the vehicle.
“I Love My 1996 Monte Carlo Z34”
The best car I have ever owned.
As a current owner of a V8 Monte Carlo of the 80s, this car can barely get out of its way, but has the steering of the old Monte. Add that with the bland jelly-bean look and you have a mindane people transporter. It's good for dependability, but don't get this expecting sporty fun.
