Swiss Army Knife of vehicles. I treat mine more as a short-box pickup with a non-removable canopy. Underneath the 'fancy' station-wagon utility lies a real half-ton truck.
Personally, this vehicle fits nicely with my mechanical skill set. There is not one part on this truck I wouldn't consider re&re'ing myself. (Unlike my previous early 90's Pontiac GTPs, which needed lots of special 'J' tools to perform ordinarily simple things like changing the front shock absorbers)
As it is actually a truck, and given basic service, I believe it should last almost forever in an urban setting. It's great in parking lots as it has a very tight turning radius for a 4x4.
Fuel costs are not much worse than the smaller, 3.4 V6, Pontiac GTP. (Mind you... Seeing as it's a Sport Futility Vehicle it promotes a more sedate driving style than the, very much more sporty, GTP)

Pros — Rugged. Inexpensive to maintain. Manuverable. It's a real body-on-frame truck.
Cons — Not 'Politically Correct'.

Brownish, 4 door, 4 wheel drive, Chevy Tahoe. Camo seat covers for the front seats. Roomy back seat with big trunk area. Seats around 5 with seatbelts. You could fit 5 behind the back seat east. Brand new brakes. Great thick tires. Good radio. Pretty fast for a bigger truck. Around 176,000 miles on it. I love driving it. She's a beast!!

Pros — 4 wheel drive, camo seat covers, 4 door, new brakes, great tires, very roomy
Cons — Back seat passenger side has no seat belt click.

The '97 Chevy Tahoe is a vehicle designed to tow and to go off road. We have taken ours off roading and it does quite well. Although the gas mileage is shocking, it barely complains when towing an 6,000 pound trailer.

Pros — 255 HP Vortec engine, Lo and Hi 4WD gears, high chassis for going over rocks, could tow a house, room for the whole family.
Cons — Drinks gas like a bonfire, not much room to move around in your lane, accessories such as a/c controls break easily, steering is like a boat.

Reviewing: 1997 Used Chevrolet Tahoe 2 Dr STD 4WD SUV

A perfect car for my life style. The 2-dr 4wd Tahoe "Sport" is the best looking SUV ever made. It carries enough gear with the rear seats folded down and can tow a boat or a trailer. Would loved to have seen the factory put a 454 cu. in. motor in the "Sport"..thanks Braulio....P.S. I still have my '97 Tahoe "Sport"
