1997 Chevrolet Blazer Reviews
“Cute Truck”
i am very happy with my blazer. although, i don't like the o2 censors and all of the electronicks. its fun to drive, small enough that i can park in compact parking spots.easy to drive and stylish. it also seems to run for ever if you keep it up
“My Wife Drives She Says Its Ok”
my wife drives this car I don't she likes it because it loaded with options
My blazer handles with ease the best and worst conditions on and off the road .
I purchased new the 97 LT, 2wd, 4.3 engine. I have 135000 miles and plan on keeping it for 3 more years. I have been lucky and purchased one of the most relable vehicles I owned. (Come-on don't choke) I read a few blogs and some have not had the luck I have had. I started using Lucas oil with my oil changes.
These are the repairs I have made
Brakes (fronts twice)
Tires (at 80K miles)
Water Pump
Master Cylinder
Water Hoses
Alternator
Battery
Fuel Filter
Serpinten Belt
I do my own work on the car; however, I follow the maintance manual recommendations provided by GM. I drive the car, however, I don't beat it up.
For California Smog I slap in a new Air Filter and Platum Plugs - and I pass. I drive mostly freeway miles in SoCal. I don't live in the mountains, Snow, or where there are dirt roads and hills to climb to beat up the undercarrage.
Handling can be a little wishy washy and not percise and nymble like a sports car. You really need to hang on (concentrate) if you want to drive agressive in curvy areas. Straight line does not prove me as much confidence as I would like for I like a vehicle that is firmly planted. The Blazer is a family cruser, not a road warrior.
I would purchase it again. It is a nice vehicle.
