Engine.....Don't go for the 1.8 petrol, it is very sluggish due to it being a heavy car, Fuel consumption is poor.

Body......Had nothing but trouble with the bonet catch, took Fords 10 months to sort.

Insurance......Not the cheapest on the insurance, I have 10 years no claims and it's still around £500.00

Pros — Plenty of space
Cons — Performance

This car is so popular and so good it's been voted European Car of the Year since the
Romans ruled  the continent. Forget the new shape how ever lovely it might look and nice
it is to drive, if you want a great car for the price of a bag of chips you can't go wrong
buying a Ford Mondeo.

The best option is arguably the 2.2 TDCi found in the ST. Developing a hearty 155bhp it'll
hit 60 in around 8 seconds and go on to a top speed of a very respectable 140mph. If you
drive it nicely though it'll reward you with around 50mpg. You can pick one up 6 months
old  for £12k.

Whatever engine you go for you're getting a good motor but be wary of trim levels as the
car really is quite spartan when you go in at the basic level. Avoid LX trim and for a few
extra bucks or quid a Ghia or Titanium will mean much more driver comforts and much
better residuals.

And thats the real nail in the coffin of the Ford Mondeo. Depreciation!!! Even though it
drives great and will probably take the whole family and their luggage around the world
and back without even breaking a sweat, these cars lose a lot of money.

It doesn't matter if you're the first owner, the 2nd, 3rd, the 1000th... This car's price will
drop like a stone... thats tied to a brick.

Pros — Value for Money, Handling, Running Costs
Cons — Depreciation, Depreciation, Badge

It was a 6 gear navy blue 3litre Mondeo that I took my driving course in. Not bad, not very exciting.

Pros — Seemed safe / reliable
Cons — Boring!
