3.8L V6 one of the most reliable motors GM has ever made. To bad they stopped. I loved that car.

Ran great, like a champ.

| “Amazing Engine” Reviewing:
1998 Used Chevrolet Monte Carlo 2 Dr LS Coupe
This car has not led a real good life. But the engine still purrs like a kitten. The body is falling apart through no fault of it's own, but we can't part with it because of the amazing engine. |
| “Great Highway Or City Cruiser, Plenty Of Power, Room, And Luxurious Features!” Reviewing:
1998 Used Chevrolet Monte Carlo 2 Dr Z34 Coupe
Overall impression: I have had this car for 5 months now and love it! The main reason for buying it was that it had all the practical features I wanted, but yet could be a sporty 2 door. I was looking for a Bonneville of similar year and features, but was pleasantly surprised at the Monte Carlo. Another main part was that the '98 and '99 Z34 models have the infamous 3800 V6 that has been known for excellent gas mileage, power, and reliability.
Pros —
Love the combination of power, practicality, and reliability of the 3800 V6; also the comfort, huge trunk, and thoughtful features for a 1998 model. Even if the styling is nothing spectacular, it is pleasantly clean, subdued and tastefully sporty.
Cons —
I really don't like having only one cupholder in the center console! At least two should have been designed. The rear center armrest is pretty puny, and would be nice if it had cupholders like the 2000+ Monte Carlos. Also wish the automatic headlights had an override, and the turning radius is rather wide. Also the rear trim panel between the taillights is prone to fading, the center console hinges are prone to breaking

1998 Used Chevrolet Monte Carlo 2 Dr LS Coupe
I first bought a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS with 80,000 miles for $2,400.00, and it ran descent, but I sunk about $1,000.00 into the motor, and it ran like a champ until it hit 140,000 miles where a semi-truck decided to blow a red-light and hit me in the driver's side front fender. The car's currently totalled, but with all of the damage done, it was worse for the semi. These '98 Chevy Monte Carlos are VERY good crash rating cars obviously!!! I WALKED away from a semi hitting me at 50 mph...think about it people... |
