1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Reviews
| “American Roadmaster With Two Leather Couches”
A luxury roadmaster with two leather couches I bought the car in July of 2007 with high hopes: 57,000 miles, solid condition, and a damn Oldsmobile. The car has been very solid overall, only needing minor repairs (new alternator, ignition wites, lights). The car rocks like a roller coaster when I zoom down the Van Wyck, but is remarkably smooth for its age. It's comforatble, a head turner, and a symbol when American enginerring and style actually was backed up by true performance.
Pros —
Pros: -V6 engine with fine power
-6 Passenger seating -All steel frame by Fisher -Classic stock rally 442 rims -Having middle aged and elderly people compliment my car -Solid build with minimal problems -Plentiful parts that are widely avaliable and inexpensive -Good acceleration and braking (when dry) -Tasteful tan decor all-around
Cons —
-AWFUL fuel economy (10 MPG mixed from a 231 Buick V6!)
-Tempermental carburetor -Very difficult to parallel park -Dilapidated headliner (GM issue in general) -Gauge cluster (no tachometer, fuel gauge off by 1/4 tank, e-brake light broken, lights dimming on its own will) -70 pounds of kitty litter needed in my trunk for ghetto anti-lock brakes -Sucky performance from the 3-speed automatic |
| “My First Project Car” My mom had a 4-door salon, then it was mine. The frame rails on it went bad so we scrapped it. I found a 2-door and rebuilt it. It looked different and after I was done with it, it was crazy fast. 10.34 in the 1/4. It took a ton of money. But to me it was worth every penny. Many people laughed at it, until all they seen was the tail lights and the losing slip. I only ever lost 4 runs in her. Unfortuntly some else like the look of the car, It was stolen one night. It was found 3 weeks later, stripped and destroyed. There was tears. I would love to find another one, They are different and cool.
Pros —
They are different and cool
Cons —
The night it got stolen
