With the ability to lull you to a stoplight, purring to a stop; and the ferocity to dig through the toughest snow conditions, blasting three-foot drifts as though they don't exist, the Astro, in my humble opinion, is the best van ever built.

Just today we bought our fourth Astro. This time, an '03 LS (AWD, of course)with leather interior, bucket seats, compass/computer. After two years driving a Chrylser Town and Country Limited, driving the Astro was like coming home, reuniting with an old friend. The comfort and command of sitting at the elevation of any SUV or four-wheel-drive truck along with the greatest looking front-end ever designed makes me wonder why the 18-year production fell out of favor with drivers. Personally, I don't want to be without one again. Unfortunately, finding an Astro in pristine condition is going to become more and more difficult. I'm glad we have one in our garage today!

If you want a real van with personality, you HAVE to drive an Astro. They ride like a dream and will take you wherever you want to go, regardless of conditions. My son and I used to try to get our former Astro stuck in snow drifts. We would seek out two-to-three-foot banks, drive right into them and stop. The Astro never failed to rip us right through! So, in the words of Mark Cohn, don't give me no Buick, the foreign car's absurd, me I want to go down, in a Chevy Astro van.

Twelve thumbs up! That's high ratings from the entire family.

Pros — Powerful snow crushing ability. Room, comfort, and handling.
Cons — Gas mileage could be better, but none worse than most SUV's lacking the sweet looks of the world's sexiest van!
