I love everything about my Jetta.  It is like my little race car! I love that it is a manual transmission because I treat it like a race car.  Every time I get on the open road, I can't help but pass people! Everyone should drive a Volkswagen.  They are great.

Pros — Everything
Cons — I wish it was faster!

My wife wanted it.  I'd rather have a Nissan Coupe.  The seat is a pain to adjust, the sunglass holder is not big enough for sunglasses and the low gas indicator won't say how many miles till empty.  The mileage is ok though and right now, that matters a lot.

Pros — mileage
Cons — functionality

Performance is above average, the engine is torque-y but it feels if something is desired. The 150hp just doesn't cut it, especially with the horrible fuel economy it's producing at average of 22 city and 30 highway. This can be solved perhaps with an aftermarket intake or even more drastic a turbocharger, but I say only the later if you know what you are doing, and what parts of the vehicle must be compensated for.

Overall built quality is the precise and durable German engineering, the car is solid as a rock, substantially heavier than it's Japanese counterparts, maybe that's why the fuel economy is poor. One complain though, the factory stereo is trash, I think it underpowers the speakers... sound just sound muddy (this is coming from an "audiophile" however).

Appearance in my opinion is very sexy, installing more of a curvy eastern design, yet still retains it's European look.

Overall: needs more power, better fuel economy, and better stereo.

Pros — Appearance, Built Quality
Cons — Fuel Economy, Power, Torque

This car is great. I bought it at 17,000 miles and it still is running smoothly. The price tag was pretty high though - $18,000. Still the interior and quality of the car are off the charts. A must have first vehicle. Great quality and excellent branding used. Inside it has an excellent roomy interior with plenty of head, arm and leg room. Grocery shopping comes with ease in this car!

Pros — Great mileage, runs smoothly
Cons — Price tag is high

Shame on Volkswagen for getting rid of the turbo! This car is quick,
responsive, and loves to move! A great drive.

Pros — Solid build, smooth engine, good transmission, very quick
Cons — Second gear is jerky unless you're super careful with the clutch.

Reviewing: 2007 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

Volkswagens have always been intriguing to me, although I never listened to what people said about having them in the dealership. I fell in love with the Jetta, and bought it on an impulse. Needless to say, I don't think I'd ever buy another one. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine car, it's just not perfect. It gets terrible gas mileage, only averaging 250 miles to the tank. The interior is very comfortable however and I doubt I will ever drive another car without navigation again. Heated seats are another "luxury" that VW seems to put as a standard feature in most of their vehicles. The backseat is roomy with both seats folding down to have full access to the large trunk. There are two 110V plugs in case you ever wanted to say, plug in your laptop on a road trip. Did I mention the passenger seat folds down FORWARD to use as an ottoman for the person in the backseat? There is also an iPod adapter in the glove compartment and 6 disc cd changer in the console.

I can see myself getting a Jetta in one circumstance: if it was a GLI. Other than that, no thanks. This one is too slow and too mainstream. Everybody has one and it's just not special.

The worst thing about owning a VW is the service you get from the dealership in my area...Hewlett VW in Georgetown, TX. No rental car, terrible service, and my car has been in there multiple times for the same problem... which can't seem to be fixed.

Pros — Leather seats, navigation, heated seats, computer in dash display, SIRIUS satellite radio, night/day radio color display, Affordable "luxury" on a budget.
Cons — It's in the dealership for minor electrical problems frequently. A/C and heater problems within it's first year. Headlight recall. Heated seats fuse blew when hardly used. Slow acceleration. Multiple blind spots. Lurches unless fully warmed up. Terrible gas mileage (<22 mpg city), no sunroof although "premium package." Loud engine noise on highway.

Performance: 0-100km/h in 7 secs
Fuel economy 8.0L/100 kms
Smooth dual clutch semi-auto gearbox
Handy medium sized car with huuuuuge boot (bigger than Falcon, Commodore)
Try finding a car with this performance, fuel economy, handling, build quality, features,
under $40k that is cheap to insure and register.
Note: 18" wheels and full body kit were an extra cost.

Pros — Performance, handling, very cheap to run, beautiful car to drive, and it doesn't look bad
either.
Cons — Some initial issues, but all fixed now under warranty. Factory tow-ball is $1500!!!
