Diesel, fantastic milage

This 1980 VW Caddy, known in north america as the Rabbit Pickup/Sportruck, has been on the road for 28 years now, but it has been completely updated.
Suspension has been replaced for some weitec coilovers adding a lot of handling to the car by lowering the center of gravity. The original 1.6L diesel engine has been replaced by a 1995 2.0L 8valves that has been a little modified, original camshaft has been replaced by an autotech 268 degree, OBD1 computer management was freshened up by neuspeed and the exhaust now screams thru an eurosport 4-2-1 2.25in headers then a hand-made 2.25 in stainless steel exhaust. The engine originally produced 115bhp, it has not been dynoed since it's not a lot of modifications, it should run around 120bhp now on 94 octane fuel. The car weights 700kg, so 120horses are enough to stick you to the seat thru first and second gear, the 3rd and up are just slow. Braking has not been neglicted here, original discs have been replaced with Zimmermann 9.4in cross-drilled race rotors and PBR ceramic racing pads. Not the most imposant brake setup, but again, in such a light car, it's more than enough.
Interior is yet to be made, the 1980 dashboard has not survived, it will be replaced soon by a 1981 rabbit unit wich is in far better shape. Seats right now are from a 1984 rabbit GTi, they are ultra-confortable, but plain-ugly.
I have an OMP rallye bucketseat for driver-side and a 1984 GLi half-leather half-cloth passenger seat to put in it after the dashboard swap.
Overall it's a great car, quick from one stop-light to another, very fuel efficient, has great handling like most german cars and you will get noticed everywhere you go with one of these beasts.

Highly reliable, predictable handling, bullet-proof clutch and tranny and oversuspended.  Wish I had another today.
