1975 Volkswagen Beetle Reviews
“I Love Winston!”
He is my baby
She's fantastic, a joy to drive (except not so much when warming up that frozen engine early on a February morning).
Love the sound and the general image she has, get lots of looks from people, some bad as in "lol.. wtf?" but it's mostly smiles all round!
Not the nippiest of cars - you can't really thrash her about if you're in a hurry, but there's enough performance to get you from A to B so that's all that matters.
Mechanically she is sound, just a slight oil leak from the front cooler seals but everything else works fine. Bodywork is THE BEST! Nepal Orange paint, totally original non-resprayed, no welding on body panels, a few small dents soon to be pushed out..
Floorpan slightly rusted but to be expected - small hole in rear of the right heater channel.
Recently had the GT wheels resprayed, not shown in the photos yet, so now she looks almost as new!
The car itself is quite big but the interior is smaller than it looks. Lots of legroom in the front, but the back is very cramped - especially where the roof slopes down! Seats are tidy.. the windscreen is rather "in your face" but the plus side is that the inside is not all made of plastic!
Just something a bit different to a clio or a fiesta as my first car, and although there is slightly more work involved in owning one, it's definately worth it and I am a proud to own her!
Really have enjoyed it except always think I'm going to roll it going around corners.
