1993 Mercedes-Benz 190-Class Reviews
| “Yet Another Blue 1.8l 190e”
This is the fourth 190E I've owned. Although this car isn't the one in the picture (that was the one it replaced) it looks almost exactly the same, the only noticable difference being an aftermarket Avantgarde grille.
Pros —
Fuel consumption, handling, comfort, build quality
Cons —
Not exactly rapid (especially compared with the 2.6L), slightly dated looking now

| “Great Old German Dtm Machine” Reviewing:
1993 Used Mercedes-Benz 190-Class 4 Dr 190E 2.6 Sedan
At first glance, the 190E seems like any ordinary old Benz that is still roaming the streets, waiting to fall apart. However, these cars have a long racing heritage in the German DTMs back in the 80s and 90s. With a little bit of hard work, the squidgy feeling of the 190E can be easily eliminated and turned into a great track car.
Pros —
Reliable, easy to work on, fun to drive, looks great with the right styling and taste
Cons —
Working on the car drains the wallet, hard to work on due to aging chassis components such as bolts, underpowered

| “A Stunning Reliable Vehicle” I bought my first 190e new in 1993. It has now done 298,000km and is still going strong! I also had a second one which I sold at over 450,000km.
Pros —
Solid build, ageless, over-engineered design
Cons —
Aluminium head has a tendency to corrode. Soft rear end, almost no back leg room!

| “Daily Driver - Nazi Staff Car” We bought this used in 1998 to replace Judy's Sable for about $22,000 with 30,000 miles on it. It is Silver with a cream interior. It's the straight 6 2.6L with Auto Trans. Pretty decent power (154 HP) but I have never put the throttle down on this thing for any length of time. It has had problems to the tune of about $3000 so far(we only have only put about 50,000 miles on it in 10 years). The AIR is gone and only the speakers on the left work??? Have also had two problems with the power windows.
Pros —
Good looks. Adequate power
Cons —
Reliability
