I had this car for just under 2 years and it was fun to drive, especially on the smaller roads in Ireland. It had 75HP engine and the fuel consumption was low and gave excellent mileage. It handled the corners very well and because of it's low center of gravity the performance and handling was good.
Pros —
Handling,fuel consumption, good for city driving
Cons —
Low clearance and the underbody used to hit the speed bump , or if there is a bad pot hole

If you buy a Golf make sure it is colour coded and the engine is bigger than a 1.4 L.
Pros —
Excellent interior and exterior with reasonable acceleration.
Cons —
During wet conditions the car's handling becomes very, very poor. I should know.
