2006 Volkswagen Passat Reviews
| “Nice Dependable Car” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat 2.0T
I like all the cubby holes and the umbrella holder...and it is rather powerful for such a wimpy engine. The mileage is great-I get around 30 mph in town, and 35-36 on the interstate. It is not as fun to drive as a V-6 or V-8, but the gas mileage makes up for that negative.
Pros —
Dependability, many extras
Cons —
Not power seating on passenger side, other German quirkiness

| “The Good And The Bad About A Passat” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat 2.0T
i bought an 06 passat in december 07 with just over 20,000 miles for 19K. The cars exterior is excelent looking and the interior is sophicated and good looking as well, i personally like the blue gauges. it is comfortable to drive, quiet and but the driver seat is lacking in lateral support especially in rather spirited driving. The performance is pretty good for a 4 banger thanks to help from a small turbo. The suspension is tight and does not budge oven through high speed corners. There is nothing lacking in the breaks aswell. From a dig the acceleration is lacking halfway through first because of the time it takes the turbo to spool but it will snap through 2nd and 3rd in no time at all the feeling of acceleration last from 2nd through all the way through 4th but after that it hits the speed limiter at 130.
Pros —
fun to drive, preformance and sophiciation
Cons —
maintenace, premium only, and a limp mode

| “Passat - A Complete Review” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat 3.6L
It is da best car in its class wid an amazin pickup nd acceleration. U don need 2 worry abt da breaks nd handlin cuz they r volks-made. It needs occassional maintenance like ny other car. Da interiors r kinda ok. But da loophole is that its hard 2 customize.
Pros —
pickup, handlin
Cons —
noise

| “Passat 2.0tdi Sports” Good quick reliable car. Build quality is not as good as previous models - a few more rattles than there should be. I have the 2.0 Tdi sports model which holds the road pretty well.
Pros —
Excellent road holding
Cons —
NVH is poor

| “Volkswagen Passat - Loyal Owner” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat 2.0T
Love my Passat. Comfortable and fun to drive - road trips are great. Only problem: uses premium gas! Yikes! $4.39 a gallon here in Michigan. Great car overall - would recommend highly.
Pros —
Performance, handling, fit and finish
Cons —
Uses premium gas

| “Good Ride” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat Value Edition
The discount edition of luxury saloons. The Diesel engine makes it a bit slow at the top but with a good torque. The look of the car is average since it has steel rims, but the chrome trim makes it look quite luxurious.
Pros —
Torque and the chrome trim
Cons —
Steel rims and slow engine

| “Just What You Can Expect From Vw” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat 2.0T
Im going to keep things short and simple. Its a fun car to drive and is one of the best cars you can get for the price. VWs seem to be reliable in general but tend to have little things here and there that need to be fixed (at random, even for low mileage). Hopefully the pros and cons will tell you what you really need to know.
Pros —
- Engine has decent amount of power (200hp)
- Transmission (6-Speed manual or automatic) - Road noise fairly quiet - Steering response - Gas Mileage - Comfortable - Many safety features - Trunk space
Cons —
- Rough idle at times
- Premium gas recommended - No standard heated side mirrors

| “Good But Could Do Better...” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat 3.6L 4Motion
Buy one new but I would think twice about getting a used one, could turn into a real money pit. If you must get the 4motion 2.0TDI
Pros —
Versatility, 4motion, tons of kit as standard. Comfortable ride, good handling. Swiveling xenon headlights are superb. Easy to drive. Seats great. Load of space
Cons —
DSG slow to respond during changing from forwards / reverse etc. Magnetic park brake is a pain. ESP has a fault which affected the brakes whilst traversing dipping roads. Car arrived with rough paintwork, rectified by dealer at no cost. Electric windows developed gremlins, would open by themselves. Parking brake would stick occasionally
Build quality average. Thirst 12+ ltrs/100km, in town expect around 15 ltrs/100km |
| “Great Car Overall, Miserable Resale Value.” Reviewing:
2006 Used Volkswagen Passat 3.6L
The 3.6 engine makes the car fly, but as a result handling can be tricky at time. The vehicle has a lot of thoughtful touches, and nice fit and finish. Very spaciious and for the weight and engine still gives respectable mileage. Then again, most of the miles driven are highway, so I may have a skewed opinion.
Pros —
Size, performance, fit and finish.
Cons —
Michelin tires they equipped the vehcile with. They're performance tires that easily damage. Had to replace one tire at 2500 miles, a second at 15000 miles after merely hitting a pot hole. Michelin and the tire dealer don't see a problem, but in discussing with Auto Dealer, they noted the tires were horrible. Finally, although rated "A" for traction, they're aweful on any amount of snow. Can you say sled?
