While working at BMW I had the chance to drive A LOT of their cars, especially the E46 M3. This car, now a used vehicle for most purchasers, should be on the top of the list. The build quality is second to none. The performance is seamless. The 332hp I6 is still just as wonderful as it always was, delivering a thrilling exhaust note. Handling is perfect with 19" wheels all around, and a limited slip rear differential. I happen to prefer the regular 6 speed transmission, but the SMG on these cars isn't bad either, although totally impractical for the street. For the price, this car delivers prestige, luxury and performance in spades.

Pros — Great engine, well appointed interior, excellent handling, sexy styling
Cons — SMG totally impractical for street use.

The tight suspension exposes every crack, crevice and stray pebble in the road and the race-tuned transmission's sensitive clutch takes some time to get used to. Big brakes quickly bring the heavy M3 to a standstill from 60 mph, but can make parallel parking a head-jerking ordeal. Once drivers adjust to these quick reflexes, it's immediately apparent that the M3 is one of the finest and most fun high-performance cars on the market. It's so good that you might even create excuses to run errands or make an unplanned trip to a friend's house more than an hour away.

Pros — Everything :)
Cons — Nothing
