1995 Used BMW 540i Review

 Performance of this car is truly awesome. Acceleration, braking and overall handling of the car can take your breath away. The appearance of the car is timeless. I have been asked by many people questions about the car but when they ask about the build year they are shocked. The E34 will never go out of style. The quality of the car is "German" everything fits and everything has purpose. When you first get in and shut the door you know the car is of the highest quality. The cost of ownership is BMW. It really doesnt cost anymore then many other cars to repair. I am fairly handy and will always do my own repairs. Things like oil changes, brakes, fluid changes are a snap and the preventative maintenance is the biggest thing of this or any car. The E34 540i has the highest fun factor of any car I have ever driven and can still have 4 adults in the car and seated comfortably. But I must say its when i'm alone and driving that I find myself taking the long way home just for the enjoyment of the car.
Pros:
Great car all around fun to drive.
Cons:
Some repairs can be pretty expencive

 I have owned this car now for about a year, and unfortunately at 190,000kms, it is having some transmission problems. The car has been great to drive, super fast, accelerates with ease. Gas mileage increases greatly when you use premium gas, all around an alright car.
Pros:
Syle, speed.
Cons:
Transmission, fuel economy.

The 5 series line is BMW's midsize segment, compared to the likes of the Mercedes E Class, Audi A6, along with the Taurus and Malibu's of the world. However, this car gives you the confidence of driving a much smaller sport car, with tuned suspension, 289hp, 300ft-lbs of torque and 6 speeds that put every ounce of power to the two rear wheels. A sleeper luxury cruiser that will keep you on your toes through the curvies, or let you relax in comfort on those long trips cross country.
Pros:
4.0L V8. What else? Sport seats, 6 speed manual, quiet cabin, comfortable seats, reliable with appropriate maintenance. BMW quality.
Cons:
Repairs are $$$$$$$

I was never a BMW fan, but got talked into test driving a 540i by a friend. I bought this beautiful one owner example very shortly afterwards. Absolutely loved it. They have one of the best sounding V8's, once the exhaust is opened up........... and go great!
Pros:
Depreciation, cost of some parts.
Cons:
Performance, driveability, comfort, engineering

I love the car! People say its an old man car but I toast ricers all the time. Interior is very nice, all leather and lots of options that still work. Handling is great for such a large land barge.
