Being that the car is 5000 pounds, it's not big on acceleartion, but it's enough to roast the local ricers. What the 5 series is good for, is a cozy quiet ride thats somehow...fun. I don't mind driving it the 2 and a half hours to visit campuses cause...i know i get to drive it all the way back again.

Pros: Quiet, comfortable, relaxed
Cons: not the racer's choice

A year ago I purchased my '94 530i with only 86,000 miles, and got it through work (used car dealer). Ever since selling my '87 325i years earlier, I really missed having a BMW. Like with a lot of used cars I knew in this case I was probably buying someone else's problems. Carfax reported when the car was only a year old in 1995 with 5,000 miles it was issued a Salvage Title in the state of Florida. So when the car comes to PA it was issued a Reconstructed Title (total loss by insurance company). Normally that would really scare my away, but being it was a BMW I assumed it was probably put back together right, also keeping in mind this was a 1-year-old car with just 5,000 miles when totaled. It's obvious you can see the car was a full paint, but the gaps look right, and there's no obvious signs doors, quarter, or fenders not lining up right, etc. It's a straight car, doesn't crab, etc. Well I must say the car has 92,000 miles, and can be a blast to drive. I spent about $2,000 on service work, a lot of routine stuff. I put 4 new tires on, new belts, tune-up, etc. There were some things that creaped up like a bad heater core, cracked thermostat housing, and a badly worn accelerator cable. But overall knowing and expecting some problems and routine service needed I have been very happy with the car. The latest little snag is my traction control light stays lit, and the traction control is disabled. I look at it like it's a 14-year-old car, things are going to break no matter what make or model. But I know I'm overall in a safe car, it drives beautiful, the ride quality is quite impressive.

Pros: Good Throttle Response, Ride Quality, BMW
Cons: BMW (Bring My Wallet), Know a Good Mechanic Whose Honest and Cheap

I like most everything about it, except repair costs.  It even costs twice as much to get smogged as most other cars.  The computer system is a real bonus.  I didn't realize it would show up on the dashboard until I pressed the turn signal (by mistake).  I would buy this car again!
