It was a 318TDS so it was a bit slow off the mark but you could drive it around for days on practically no diesel! A bit rusty and the engine blew up once but I loved it.

Pros: Cheap to run, comfy
Cons: Rusty and sounded like a tractor

This was a terrific way for young professionals to
get into a luxury car. BMW used to make a bargain-
level 3-series that was both affordable but well-
equipped. Definitely the best-built car I have ever
owned, the 318 had loads of luxury features and
was a comfy ride for two. It could also haul a pretty
good amount with the back seats down. The
cornering was unbelievable and the car was a great
handler
for a low-end model. The 1.8 liter motor was a bit
small for a car of this weight, however. The auto
gearbox didn't help. BMW hasn't had an entry-level
car for years until this years new 1-Series, which is
similar in size and equipment to the older 3-Series
like my '96.

Pros: Looks, reputation, features, quality
Cons: Underpowered, Auto gearbox unexciting

E36 318ti body, black with m technic appearance package.  Powerplant was an e46 m3 motor with the six speed smg transmission.  built internals and tuned by aa (active autowerks).  Fully built track car with baer 4piston calipers up front and 2piston calipers in the rear.  Subframe connectors, lowered 1.75 inches all around and it had 17" motegi superlight r wheels wrapped in perelli p zero nero tires for track and the e46 m3 wheels with falken z rated tires for the street.  The only really bad thing about this car was the gas mileage which turned out to be around 14mpg.  Total horsepower was in the range of 425-450whp.  Quickest time at the track was 12.17 on the falken tires (car would not hook with the superlight rims on it).

Pros: fast, handled well, and did i mention fast?
Cons: gas....need i say more

Great car. has alot of style. it does great through corners but has no acceleration. Overall it is a great daily driver when it not winter. PArt a expensive and had to get but i guess you should expect that when you live in a city with no BMW dealers.

Pros: 30 MPG city, Rear wheel drive, and Stick
Cons: 1.9L, Rear Wheel Drive(winter)

I love this car, it's not the most powerful but its great driving, lays well in sharp turns even tho its not lowered or anything, looks real good for a 12 year old car, you can hardly see anything on the interior.
Only thing bothering me would be squeaks in the steering wheel and I broke the gear knob in half, not the cars fault tho.
Still havent had any problems with him, he's not a big gas drinker and was pretty cheap which leaves me money to buy new things in/on him like new lights, kidneys, m tech kit and so on.

Pros: Fun driving, looks good, lays well
Cons: The squeaking

i got this car out of a salvage yard so it is not perfect but it is rebuilt and no one can tell it is rebuilt without a tapemeasure of have looked at alot of wrecked cars, i supervised all of the work and okayed all of the parts that were put on it so it is in perfect condition, with only a few scratches in the paint where it didn't get repainted.

Pros: reliable, quick, fuel economy
Cons: hatchback looks abrupt

I actually had a 318ti which is not listed on this site. It was a hatchback. Many people get
snobby about hatchbacks and deem this to be a false BMW, but this impression is
misinformed.

Pros: Handled well
Cons: Some quirky electrical problems
